ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Tell a Story Day which celebrates story telling of all kinds. It doesn’t matter if it is nonfiction or fiction, a tall tale or folk lore. Today is a day to tell ‘em all. Stories can be from a book, other written mater, or from memory.
Libraries celebrate this day with story telling hours for kids. You can enjoy telling stories to family members or groups you belong to and Make Tell a Story Day an important and pleasure filled day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Light a campfire and everyone’s a storyteller.
John Geddes
I’ve told a lot of stories in my day to my family and to others. The best story times I remember were those we told around the camp fires when we were family camping, many years ago now. Some were spooky tales and some were just plain funny. Some of the best laughs I’ve ever had, happened around the camp fires.
Some stories were told so many times that I knew them from memory too and I remember a time when one of my granddaughters said she didn’t know that stories could be told without having a book.
I think it’s important to continually tell family stories too. It helps to pass on the family history so those in the future know what happened in the past. In someways this newsletter tells our family story as much of what is written is about what we do.
Today’s pictures are of what I painted for Easter for my family. All of them, even the ones out of town, have them now, so I can show what was done. It’s nothing beautiful, but is what I call cute. A warm and cherry welcome sign they can hang up by the door. Every picture is the same but not quite the same as I can’t paint anything exactly the same. They were painted on old roofing slates that I was able to purchase from an estate sale and DS#5 graciously cut them for me in the shape of an egg for me. So he definitely had a share in making these gifts too.
It’s time once again to cook for the weekend and this time I’m making it very easy and simple by making some sloppy joes and macaroni salad.
Sloppy Joe Sandwiches
Makes 8 servings
2 tbsp butter
2 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 onion diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 1/2 c. ketchup
1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp. Red pepper flakes
Worcestershire sauce to taste
2 Tbsp. Tomato sause
Salt and Pepper, to taste
Sandwich rolls
Cheese slices, optional
Add butter to large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, onions and pepper and garlic. Cook until meat is browned and vegetables are tender.. Drain if needed to remove excess fat.
Add ketchup, brown sugar, chili powder, dry mustard and water. Stir to combine and simmer 15 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste. Also add tomato paste, and worcestshirel sauce. Spoon meat mixture over the rolls and top with a slice of cheese if desired. Serve hot with some chips.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Happily ever after depends on where we choose to end the story.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

ADVICE FOR TODAY
If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.
Rudyard Kipling
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Keep it simple, make it fun!
So cute what you painted, Ma! So very cheery! It is good to hear stories, especially family ones. My mom used to tell a lot of them when we were walking to get groceries. It made the time go by faster as she shared stories from her growing up days, etc. The library here is having an event for story telling today including free books for the kids that come and participate in the celebration.

A decorative painter like myself.... we've had fun over the years, haven't we, MA. I started tole painting in 1987, when I was pregnant with my son. Wasn't it such a wildly popular hobby back then? Now it's not... in fact, the National Society announced this will be their last convention. Even though I've never gone, the fact that they will be done makes me sad. I think, for the most part, money is just too tight for everyone. By the time the class & surface fees are paid, along with traveling expenses, motel, meals, and all that jazz.... well, it's just too much, especially for retirees who I think are the majority of painters today. Ah well.... we have our memories, our talent and our projects we've painted throughout the years, don't we, MA. Love, Andrea xoxo
Some of my happiest childhood moments were those times my dad would tell me a 'made-up story.' And of course, those story tellers at our public library. Love your adorable bunny artwork! Homemade is the very best kind of gift!
