ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Arbor Day which is a holiday in which people are encourage to plant and care for trees. The first Arbor Day was held on April 10th, 1872 and an estimated 1 million trees were planted that day. This national holiday is celebrated every year on the last Friday in April.
Trees are an important part of the natural landscape because of their prevention of erosion and the provision of a weather sheltered ecosystem in and under their foliage. They also play an important role in producing oxygen and reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and well as moderating ground temperatures.
People celebrate this holiday by volunteering their time to plant trees or by donating money to preserve forests.
Happy Arbor Day!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in eyes of others only green thing which stands in their way.
William Blake
Although the tree here in my yard does cause a lot of clean up work, I think it is worth every bit of it. It’s a home to some squirrels and birds and it provides some lovely shade for me in the summer. It also provides lots of acorns which help to feed the squirrels, chipmunks and birds that need nourishment during the winter months.
Earlier this year the tree that was on the other side of my home was cut down as well as the one in front. I will miss the shade they provided, but they needed to come down as they were not appropriately placed. Those trees had deep roots that were interfering with water and drain lines so they had to come down. I’m hoping they will plant some new ones to replace them.
The pictures today show the huge old oak tree in my yard. I’ve shown most of them before, but it’s the only tree nearby right now.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7009. for answered prayers, Amen
7010. for trees, we need them
7011. for acorns too, a little seed that grows big trees
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

So thankful for the trees!
I enjoyed reading about Arbor day and seeing pictures of your home and pretty tree.
It continues to tickle me when you list how many days until summer and we just had our AC units serviced and are currently running them as it is hitting over 90 here.
Our big elm died last year. It had been limping along. I miss the shade and protection as it is right beside the gazebo. We need to get them to come out and top it off. The trunk is humongous and I want to keep it at gazebo height so it will still give some protection.....
Love your magestic oak! We have two pecan trees. That’s all we have now. I’ve lost three trees over the 50+ years I’ve lived here....
I enjoyed the pictures of the trees, Ma. Here in our area there aren't a lot of tall ones, except for palm trees, LOL. We do need those trees though, so glad that there is a day to help us to remember them and to plant them if we can.
betty
I remember Arbor Day celebrations while I was in elementary school; not so much after. Good you found an explanation for those trees being taken down. We nearly didn't buy this house, on account of a huge tree growing right next to the sun room. My son and DIL were concerned it's roots would grow underneath and wreak havoc with the slab. I wrote to (our mutual friend) Jack, who concurred so we had the owner cut it down.
