ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Administrative Professionals Day which honors all those that take notes, answer phones, remember all the little details and keep everyone in the office organized.
It’s a day to show appreciation to secretaries, receptionists and administrative assistants. There are over 4.1 million Americans that have the job title administrative assistant and another 8.9 million that work in administrative support roles.
To celebrate, show appreciation for the admins at the office today. They deserve it.
Today is also National Pigs In A Blanket Day, School Bus Drivers Day and International Guide Dog Day
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
Voltaire
Not all of us go into an office to work, but I worked for years as a secretary and an office manager so I know how good it felt to be appreciated. I was fortunate to have bosses that took me to lunch or gave gifts of appreciation on this day.
Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It’s always a good time to let others know just how much they are valued. No one likes to be taken for granted.
I managed to get a lot of yard work done yesterday and that is what the pictures are of today. I filled 5 and a half of those brown paper bags that are used for leaves full anyway and am happy it is done. Now I’m ready to mow the grass when it needs it.
I also have an appointment to renew my lease here where I live. We have new owners and they have some new rules, so we’ll see how that goes. When I moved here a little over 2 years ago, I had intentions of making this my last move. I like it here and have no complaints. I like renting, and not have the responsibilities of being a home owner. On the bright side, they assured me the rent would not change. It will stay the same.
The first dandelions are now blooming. I like to see their sunny faces. Not everyone appreciates them, but they are not all bad for sure. My sister ask me if I picked one to hold under my chin. We used to do that when we were kids. They say that if you put a dandelion flower under your chin and it glows yellow, you like butter. And I do! Some also say if your chin turns yellow you’ll be rich. Alas I am not, but I do have wealth in many things that are not material.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A little praise goes a great ways.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
7003. for secretaries, receptionists and admins
7004. for a day that reminds us to show appreciation
7005. for a nice home to live in
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

It's always a good time to show your appreciation!
That was a lot of yard work you did:) So happy you have the strength to do it, there is nothing better than the feeling of a job well done.
Dandelion soup... dandelion tea... dandelion tincture... dandelion salad... dandelion *everything*. If they have no pesticides on them, they're the first spring food for the bees too. Dandelions are special! :-) Love, Andrea xoxo
I do remember that about the dandelions turning yellow someone's skin if they liked butter. Haven't heard it mentioned in years though.
That was a lot of yard work you got done, Ma! A great achievement to look back at.
Glad to hear your rent won't be going up. The new rules could be good ones for everyone's safety and happiness. Hopefully they won't be silly ones like some we had when we lived in Prescott in a homeowner's association.

What a feel-good post, Pam! First, a big "whew" that your rent will not be going up. I love dandelions, but had forgotten all about putting them under my chin until you mentioned it. All my working years were spent in some secretarial capacity or another. Forgot 'titles', I still called myself a secretary and have always been happiest in a supporting role. Fortunately, like you, most of my bosses exhibited SINCERE appreciation for what I did. It was only in the last 5-6 years that my boss made it clear I was merely an underling. Her ignorance; I'm still trying to put it behind me.
We used buttercups to see if we loved butter ...who doesn't love butter with or without a buttercup or dandelion! Bet your back and blisters are aching after all the yardwork. We have been cleaning up from the winds taking down limbs, etc. Flower beds are finally full of all the trees flowers/seeds ...now clean out and add mulch. Neverending and we are getting too old for this; hubby isn't interested in a veggie garden this year, too. Love reading your blog every day and quite enjoy the "national day of..." as well as recipes, a few I have tried along the way. Have a blessed rest of Easter week.
