ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Cherish an Antique Day which a day to polish them up and put them on display. People have been collecting antiques since the beginning of our history. We’ve been fascinated by the stories they bring with them and the remarkable glimpse they give us into the lives of our past.
To celebrate today learn the story behind your favorite antique and share the tale with family and friends.
Cherishing an antique can make the past far more present.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I’m the oldest antique in town.
Norman Rockwell
One antique I cherish is a quilt top make by my maternal grandmother. It’s sat in my cedar chest for many years now with the hopes that it will be turned into a quilt. She put the quilt squares together but it has never been quilted. Since I have no place to set up a quilting loam, I did purchase a large hoop to hold it all together. I pined all the layers together, the top, the batting and the backing. It is not a fancy quilt, but one she put together using scraps. She never wasted any leftover material.
I’m thinking that just as soon as the Easter holiday is over, it will be time to get it out of storage and try again. It may have been better to do this during the winter time, but then we have more daylight and sunny days now and with my eyesight, I need to have more of that when it comes to stitching. Her fine stitches are something to be admired and although I can’t possibly match them, I will be hand stitching this quilt together. It’s what I call a labor of love.
Sometimes I do feel like I am the oldest antique around. Now that my 75th birthday has passed I think I officially meet the requirements. Like me, many of the things in my home are old too. But then I cherish it all and so here it remains.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

Hand made gifts are the best!
Some of the young people that I work with, I look at them and think...some of my clothes are older than you! It's true too! LOL! Stay positive and you will always be young at heart. ❤
What a lovely way to save the partial quilt. My Grandmother came to America from Norway and could only bring a small amount of things. I cherish the few dishes she brought.
That is a beautiful quilt nonetheless that your grandmother made from scraps! I hope you'll be able to finish it soon Ma when you start working on it again. I do agree, I find the little sewing I do it is better to do it when the sun is shining. Helps see where to place the stitches.

I'm so glad to have seen this, so I had the chance to share something on my Facebook page! I've always been enamored by quilts and their back stories. Unfortunately, I possess zero talent with a needle and thread, but I cherish the two my mother crafted.
