ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Pet Day which is all about appreciation and celebrating the wonderful pets in your life. Many pet owners consider their pet an important member of the family.
This day was created to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption. and it is sponsored by the Animal Miracle Foundation, whose mission is to help animals in shelters to find their forever homes.
To celebrate today, take your dog on a long walk or give your cat a little extra catnip to show your love and appreciation. If your are not a pet owner, consider making a donation or volunteering at a pet shelter.
Happy National Pet Day!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Animals are such agreeable friends—they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.
George Elliot
The only pets I have these days are those of my family. I have several grand dogs and love them all. Today’s pictures are of just a few of them. The one above belongs to DS#2 and his family. I haven’t met this one yet, but I’ve found that whenever I get to a chance to visit with any of them, the seem to know I’m their grand’ma’.
It’s just a few days now until our family Easter celebration on the 13th. I’ve got some things that still need to wrapped up for gift giving and I also have some cooking to do. Tomorrow I can make the deviled eggs, but the Cabbage and Noodles I’m making will have to wait until Saturday morning. DS#5 and his wife are our hosts for this holiday celebration. They’ll be providing the Easter ham and beverages and everyone else is bringing something to share. There will also be cheesy potatoes, rolls, baked beans and potato salad on the menu. Sounds like quite a feast. Easter candy will be the dessert, little need for anything else sweet, I’m thinking. But if I happen to come across some nut roll, it may be added to the list.
I thought I’d share my recipe for Cabbage and Noodles just in case you’ve never had it. Mine will also include some Hungarian sausage as my dad’s parents came from Hungary so we enjoy it for the holidays.
Haluski Cabbage and Noodles
1/2 lb.. thick cut bacon, chopped
1 head of cabbage
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
12 oz. egg noodles
Place a large pot of water on high and bring to a boil. Cook the noodles according to package directions Drain and set aside, reserving 1 c. of water for later use.
Cut the cabbage and onion into strips. Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook until crisp Add the cabbage and onions. Saute for about 5 minutes and then add salt and pepper to taste. Add garlic and cook for another 5 minutes.
Once the cabbage is tender add the noodles into the skillet. Stir to mix and add a little of the reserved pasta water, if needed, to help blend in the flavors and let simmer about 20 minutes.
In my case I’ll also be adding the sausage along with the bacon. This recipe is supposed to make 8 servings, but I’ll be making a bit more than that for my large family.
On the bright side, I saw daffodils and forsythia blooming alone the roadside when I went for groceries yesterday! Hippy Hop, Easter is on the way!
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!

COUNTING MY GIFTS
I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are role model for being alive.
Gilda Radner
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6963. for dogs to love, they are part of the family

6965. for Easter eggs, mine will be deviled
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU!

So thankful for my family...
There is the most perfect poem about a dog...it is by the Rev. William C. Doane, his dog Cluny. If I find it, I will send you a link to it, it's good! Thanks for the recipe, sounds really good.
Have never had cabbage and noodles but I like them both so should give it a try. I had to smile at the dog in the sun, my two love to do this.
I am also thankful for God's love for me and mine, Christ's sacrifice for our salvation.
Irish love cabbage and potatoes w/onions and ham. I always copy, paste, and print your recipes.
My word, that Remy is TOO cute for words! I'd not read that Gilda Radner quotation, but agree wholeheartedly. Our two girls probably think EVERY day is National Pet Day … spoiled? You betcha!
Such cute pets! I did hear that it was National Pet Day. Its good to have a day to think about pet adoptions and to treat our pets a bit specially, if we have them!
I'm glad you shared your recipe for the cabbage and noodles. It looks delicious! How fun with your family celebration coming up! I hope the weather is a nice one if there will be an egg hunt.
