ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Sorry Charlie Day which is for all those who have been rejected and yet somehow survived it. Celebrate this day by taking a minute to remember a past rejection. Be happy and realize the fact that this happens to all of us at one time or another.
People can be rejected on an individual basis or by an entire group of people. Humans are social beings, but some level of rejection is inevitable on some level in all parts of life.
The name of this holiday comes from the phrase Sorry Charlie that came from a tuna advertisement. In the commercial the main character, Charlie the Tuna, believes he has good taste and wants to be caught by the tuna company. The company however, rejects Charlie by attaching a note to a fish hook that says, ’Sorry Charlie’ They wanted to catch a tuna that tastes good, and not a tuna that has good taste.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We’re not meant to be perfect, it took me a long time to
learn that.
Jane Fonda
Although things don’t always go the way we want them to, I’m one who believes that things happen for a reason. If it didn’t happen, then there is something better around the corner. If is isn’t meant to be then it won’t be. If it happens, then it was meant to be.
We shouldn’t be discouraged, but make the best of what we have and move forward with a smile. Life is good when we take it day by day.
It’s my day to cook for the weekend and I’ve found another new recipe to try out. I’ve still got leftover meatloaf to enjoy for lunch, but I needed something new for dinner.
Cast Iron Chicken and Potatoes
Serves 4
For the chicken:
1 1/2 pounds chicken pieces, your choice
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp Cajun seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp. olive oil plus extra for frying
For the vegetables
1 1/2 lb. potatoes, about 3, quartered
1/2 lb. carrots, about 2 depending on size, sliced
8 oz. mushrooms, if desired
1/2 onion
1/4 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp. cajun seasoning
1 tsp salt
1 clove garlic minced
4 tbsp. olive oil
In a medium bowl combine chicken, cumin, Cajun seasoning, salt, garlic and olive oil. Heat a cast iron pan and brown both sides of each chicken piece. Meanwhile cut up potatoes, mushrooms, carrots and onions into wedges. Combine vegetables, seasonings and oil in a bowl and mix together.. Place in cast iron skillet along with the browned chicken . Cover with foil and bake at 400 degrees for one hour or until done. Remove foil the last 15 minutes of cooking.
The original recipe called for baby carrots and potatoes, but I had the regular size so adapted the recipe to suit.
Today’s pictures are of a fishing trip taken by DS#6 and family and the tiny fish went back in the water…sorry Charlie, you were just too small.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
What’s meant to be will aways find a way.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6945. for a one pot dinner, easy to fix
6946. for another day to celebrate
6947. for my cast iron skillet
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
You may not always end up where you thought you were going.
but you will always end up where you are meant to be.

Smile and move on...
That last picture put a smile on my face:)
Looked like a fun time for your son and family! That recipe you are trying looks good too! I like simple ones like that. It was a good campaign they had with Charlie the tuna fish, but I agree sometimes it is just best to move on :)
Have a great day Ma!
betty
YUM on that chicken's seasoning!
Yes, those odl tuna commercials were fun. All I gotta say about past rejections is, "Thank God for unanswered prayers!"
