ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Happy Anniversary to DS#4 and his wife today!
An anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today, the memories of yesterday and the hopes of tomorrow.

May the dear Lord Bless you both today and always!
Today is also Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day which is a celebration of those old country songs titles and lyrics that make you scratch your head while putting a smile on your face. It is a day to pay tribute to these unique songs! Country music has never been reluctant to have a little fun with even the most serious of situations.
Country music evolved from Appalachian folk music in the 1920’s and became a nationwide sensation in the 1940’s. The Grand Ole Opry radio station in Nashville, Tennessee began broadcasting weekly concerts that showcased all the different kinds of country music - hillbilly, honky tonk, bluegrass, western, rockabilly, gospel and more.
In honor of today, put on your cowboy hat and get out your banjo and belt out your favorite Country Music song.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To keep your marriage brimming
with love in the loving cup,
Whenever you’re wrong, admit it;
Whenever you’re right, shut up.
Ogen Nash
Today’s anniversary celebration is another of my long distance ones. But a card was sent in the mail to wish them both much happiness and love in the years to come. I love celebrating my children’s anniversaries. It’s every mother’s wish to see their children happy. I had a happy marriage and think they all do too. Nothing can be better to have a loving spouse to go through life with.
County music is one of my favorite types of music and one of my favorite quirky country music song titles is Red Solo Cup by Keith Toby. Country music always makes me smile and some songs more so than others. For years we’ve used those red Solo cups at most parties and celebrations, so they do have a special place in my heart. I even have my own special red Solo cup and you see it in the picture above. It holds both hot and cold beverages and I use it often, not just special occasions.
It’s midweek and and it’s time to make a quick trip out to the grocery store. I don’t need much but my donuts are gone, and I usually have one or two every morning with my good cup of hot coffee. Ha! What can I say…
I still have one more day of leftovers but I’m making a cucumber salad to go with them so I thought I share the recipe.
Cucumber Salad
2 cucumbers peel and sliced
1 Vidalia or sweet onion
1/2 c. white vinegar
2 tsp. sugar.
1 tsp.salt
1 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup water.
Place cucumber slices in a bowl. Cut onion into thin strips and add to the bowl.
In 2 cup measuring cup. add vinegar, salt and sugar and water.. Mix well and pour over cucumbers and onions. Cover tightly and store in the refrigerator.for a least an hour before serving.
This quick salad works perfectly for a side dish for for weeknight meals, picnics, Bbq’s, or even to take along to family reunions. You can adjust the vinegar dressing to taste. I like it on the sweet side.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

It's time to party!
Another great-looking family, Pam!
I enjoy almost all kinds of music … but deep-down I'm partial to classic Country/Western. So much truths; and easy to understand the lyrics. My mother used to complain about not being able to understand what some artists were singing. Now I do the same thing!
Red Solo Cup … that's sure FUN to sing! I can't swear this is the exact title, but do you remember that c/w song, "Drop kick me Jesus, through the goal posts of life."
Lovely group of family!
Mom planted cucumbers which were always in abundance. And that salad recipe you have is almost exactly what we made. I should make some in Mom's memory.
I have been singing "Gambler song", "Streets of Laredo" has been worming my brain, "My heroes have always been cowboys" Willie Nelson. Miss Johnny Cash.
Your prayer for Military? I pray it every time I read your posts. Thank you.
Happy anniversary to DDS#4 and DDIL#4! Wishing them many more years of wedded bliss! So indeed good to have happy marriages; like you said, so much better to go life through with a great wife or husband by one's side.
I like that cucumber salad recipe, though sadly cucumbers don't agree with my stomach anymore. I bet it is refreshing on a summer day.
I didn't know the origin of Country Western songs. I'm not a super big fan of it, but do listen to it occasionally.
betty
Happy ☺ Anniversary!
