ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today we celebrate Pancake Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday or Carnival. It’s the day before the Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday. It’s a time for people to eat pancakes.
Many people use ingredients such as eggs and milk to prepare pancakes on Shrove Tuesday clearing out the cupboards, so to speak, before the Lenten fast begins.
It’s a day to have breakfast for dinner served with you favorite toppings and a side of bacon or sausage.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
No matter how flat you make your pancakes, it still has two sides.
Daniel Tosh
I do love pancakes and will be making up a stack to enjoy today. They are good for breakfast, lunch, dinner or for dessert. Here in northern Ohio our Polish communities also celebrate with Paczki, which are like a very rich and melt in your mouth filled donut for Lent. I got some at the in store bakery when I went for groceries last week.
Most of the time I make my pancakes by using a box mix made by Aunt Jemima and top them off with Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup. But there are so many delicious ways to make them and many toppings to choose from too. You could top them with peanut butter, then sprinkle with chocolate chips or go full decadent and cover in vanilla ice cream complimented with crushed nuts and a cherry on top.
You can also use caramel sauce. In a saucepan mix brown sugar, half and half and butter, add a pinch of salt and cook over low heat , whisking until it gets thicker. Add a little vanilla and cook one minute longer.
Strawberries, blue berries, black berries, or cranberries make good toppings too when scattered on top of a stack of pancakes. Berries are very rich in immunity boosting vitamin C, as well as antioxidants to keep you in good health.
Which ever way you have them, no matter what time of day, have some pancakes today!
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The season of Lent is a blessing.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6851. for Pancakes, always good no matter when you have them
6852. for fruit, good and good for you too
6853. for the season of Lent
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Happy Pancake Day!
My Grandmother made pancakes and syrup from scratch and oh how I wish I would have found out how. I lived with her while I went to beauty school and she made them for me all the time.
We had potato pancakes the other day at a Polish festival here. Weren't quite made the same way my mom made her's, but tasty just the same. No pancakes for us today but going out to a BBQ place for dinner tonight to celebrate son's 30th birthday that was yesterday but he was working, so we'll have a Mardi Gras type of thing going :)
betty
You have certainly made me have a hankering for pancakes today!
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit, I've never heard of Pancake Tuesday (Shrove). My mother used to bake German pancakes in her cast-iron skillet and serve with applesauce; and of course, Tom loves his Polish pancakes. I'll have to ask him about the Paczki.
