ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Plant a Flower Day which is a great way to get ready for Spring. We all love spring for its sunshine, greenery and new blossoms. Depending on where you live, planting flowers is the perfect way to welcome warmer weather.
Gardening has become a popular hobby amongst people of all ages If you can get outside today and plant some flowers. If not, you can still plant some in a pot. Flower gardening is a sure way to brighten your day and bring you some happiness.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Flowers don’t worry about how they’re going to bloom. They just open up and turn toward the light and that makes them beautiful.
Jim Carrey
For the most part the only flowers around my house this time of year, are the artificial variety. But I have received pots of tulips, daisies and Easter lilies for Easter. It’s so nice to have something green and growing in the house.
It won’t be possible to plant anything outside until the middle of May in northern Ohio. We’ll still have chances of freezing and frost until then. I did leave the fern I had last summer hanging on the sunporch just to see if it would winter over. With warmer days, I’ll be watering it just to see if it does come back. I’ll let you know if any new shoots appear.
We’ve finally come out of the deep freeze here with temps mostly in the 30’s and 40’s and an occasional 50, but the nights are still very cold. And the long range forecast still shows chances for snow in the coming days.
I tried to winter over the herb garden I had planted in flower boxes last year and none survived. There is no heat on the sunporch and it got too cold. I’ve had success growing plants outdoors in the summer but the squirrels around here like them too and it’s a constant battle getting them to grow.
It may be only 8 days until Spring, but the first day of springlike weather, is often another thing altogether.
All my leftovers from the weekend have been eaten and so today I’ll be cooking something new to have. Since I found chicken legs on sale last week I’ll be cooking some up today.
My favorite way to fix them is cooking them with some celery, carrots and onion and broth. Then take them out and put in a pan and cover them with barbecue sauce and bake until done. I use the broth to make dumplings and have them along with the barbecued drumsticks.
So that is supper tonight and probably tomorrow and the next day too. True comfort food.
I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful; they are sunshine, food, and medicine for the soul.
Luther Burbank
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6872. for flowers, they brighten my days
6873. for chicken, comfort food at it’s best
6874. for the sunporch my favorite place to be when it warms up
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Flowers always make me smile :.)
Your chicken and dumplings sound yummy!
It is raining here and chicken and dumplings sound real good.
Even if it's still cold (we're in northwest Indiana so yes, it's still chilly here too), we have far less cold weather ahead of us than is behind us... and sometimes we simply have to hang on to that thought, eh, MA? Happy Spring! Love, Andrea xoxox
I like how you cook your chicken legs, Ma. I'm going to have to try that. I bet they are delicious! We don't grow much here ourselves. I'm not even too sure if people put in gardens here. I'm not sure what would survive when it gets as hot as it does in the summer months.

I was just saying to Tom last night (that) I'd like to visit Home Depot's garden center. We've lovely bushes, but having lived in the desert so long neither of us is quite knowledgeable what might flourish (or not). I'm honestly surprised the philodendron given as a retirement gift hasn't kicked the bucket!
