ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Cereal Day which celebrates the most popular breakfast food in America, but that wasn’t always the case. Up until the 1860’s most people ate eggs, bacon, and sausage every morning. Cereal emerged as a healthier alternative at the end of the 19th century.
The invention of one of the most famous brands of cereal was an accident in 1877 when brothers named Harvey and Will Keith Kellogg were experimenting with boiled wheat. They tried the same process with corn and created the first dry breakfast cereal, Kelloggs’s Corn Flakes.
Many people start their day with a bowl of cereal. Whole grains are an excellent source of fiber, iron, and B vitamins. So celebrate today with a bowl full of your favorite brand.

We go forward one hour on Sunday, March 10th
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Remember the days when you let your child have some chocolate if he finished his cereal? Now chocolate is one of the cereals.
Robert Orben
I do like and enjoy an occasional bowl of cereal, but I still have eggs and bacon too. Sometimes I’ll have a bowl of cereal with sliced bananas for a snack later on during the day.
I like bran flakes and often have a box on the shelf, but they also make delicious muffins and I’ll make them up to have for breakfast too.
Bran Muffins
1 1/2 c. flour
2/3 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. oil
3 c. bran flakes cereal
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/3 c. raisins
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.
Whisk egg, milk, and oil in a separate bowl and add to flour mixture, stir until just moistened. Stir in cereal, walnuts and raisins until blended.
Spoon into 12 paper lined muffin cups. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until tops are lightly brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 5 minutes and the remove and cool slightly. They are best when warm.
I have finally decided on a Welcome sign that I’ll be painting for Easter this year. It is pictured above and now I have more or less 6 weeks in which to finish it. I’ll be doing at least seven of them as gifts for my family… Hopefully they’ll be done by then.
Today I’ll be getting out to do a little shopping. I don’t need much but bananas, donuts, and a jug of milk. But I’ll probably come home with more. I always do.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There’s a little bit of magic in every box!

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6857. for cereal, good and good for you
6858. for muffins, they are good for breakfast
6859. for my good cup of hot coffee, a great way to start the day
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
In life, as in breakfast cereal, it is always best to read the instructions on the box.
Terry Pratchett
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

They say that breakfast is the best meal of the day...
I have a packet of instant oatmeal and a hard boiled egg for breakfast most days. Very filling and delicious. I have not tried the chocolate variety cereals, they seem just too sweet to me. I used to like Rice Krispies with a banana cut in it and also Cheerios.
I like that welcome sign you are going to paint. So cheery looking and inviting!
We are going grocery shopping tonight. We used to do it on Saturday afternoons after I got off work, but schedules changed so now its easier to go in the evenings on Thursday. We find that the store is less crowded too!

What a darling little bunny design, MA. I'm trying to remember who designed it as it looks very familiar. I was going to say Pat Olsen but it doesn't look quite right as to be one of hers. I have lots of tole painting books with bunnies in them.... maybe I should paint a sign too. Please update us with a picture of your finished project, ok? Love, Andrea xoxo
That's interesting about Kellogg's origins! My cereal of choice is GrapeNuts … best enjoyed at supper. I don't know about your family/friends, but I think it's so cute that many folks are fiercely loyal to their own brands. When Debbie was here, we had to go out for Cheerios; her sister will only eat Fruit Loops. :))) What's your favorite?
Love the bunny welcome sign you've chosen!
