ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Buzzards Day which is circled on the calendars of many Ohio residents who, once a year, scan the skies watching for the buzzards return. For them, this graceful winged creature singles rebirth and the beginning of springtime.
Although the buzzards have been coming to Hinkley for for over 150 years, it wasn’t celebrated until 1957. Now every year the town has an Annual Buzzards Festival. They summer in Ohio and then live in the southern part of the United States and even all the way to South American in the winter.
The mid March celebration is led by an official Buzzard Spotter on the Hinckley Reservation in the Cleveland Metro parks and welcomes this flying precursor to spring. It’s a wonder how they manage to return every year on this same date.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I glanced out the window at the signs of spring. The sky was almost blue, the trees were almost budding, the sun was almost bright.
Millard Kaufman
This might sound like a strange holiday to celebrate, but here in northern Ohio we grab on to any sign of Spring that we can. I look for the return of the robins. They are a sign of spring for me.
Another sign of Spring is the skunk. It’s mating time and they are out…so beware! Thankfully I haven’t seen any at all here in our area but I used to see and also smell them at the old house.
It’s the Ides of March so the key word for the day is Beware !
Fridays in Lent are meatless meals for me so I thought I share what I’m cooking up for dinner today.
Cheesy Salmon Pasta
8 oz. uncooked spaghetti
1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
1 c. chopped onion
3 green onions, finely chopped
2 cans salmon, drained and flaked
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
Cook pasta in lightly salted water for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain. Heat olive oil in skillet, stir in onions and. cook until tender. Mix in salmon and cook til heated through. Stir in 1/2 the Parmesan cheese and continue cooking 5 minutes. Toss with cooked pasted and sprinkle with remaining cheese to serve.
You can also add a frozen vegetable of your choice like peas or broccoli. I happened to have some fresh spinach on hand so I added a handful of that. It’s quick, easy and economical too.
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Welcome, wild harbinger of spring!
To this nook of earth;
Feeling and fancy fondly cling
Round thoughts which owe their birth
To thee, and to the humble spot
Where chance has fixed thy lowly lot
Barnord Barton,
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
6881. For Spring, my favorite season
6882. for robins, and buzzards too, harbingers of spring
6883. for salmon, good and good for you
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

The signs of Spring are everywhere.
It's ironic that the return of the buzzards is considered a sign of spring and new growth. Usually, we associate buzzards with scavenging and death. (Maybe buzzards just need a better PR guy!)
Have a wonderful weekend!
The only buzzards I have ever seen were at the zoo and I can't imagine that they are celebrated coming to town as a sign of spring but then things are different everywhere, not many people would consider eating a rattlesnake either.
I like that pasta recipe, Ma. I too wonder how the buzzards know to return on March 15th and how the swallows return to San Juan Capistrano in California on March 19th. I think God gives them that instinct to do so. I haven't seen or smelled a skunk since we moved down here to Phoenix. That's probably a good thing :)

Like Susan and Monica have written, I was stunned that buzzards were a sign of Spring … and even have their own festival. Salmon lover that I am, this pasta dish sounds mighty good! After another uneasy (stormy) night, I'm looking forward to a 'no-rain' weekly forecast.
