ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is National Pizza Pie Day which celebrates one of American’s favorites. Whether it is a thin curst, Chicago style, deep dish or any thing in between, everyone seems to love them.
Over 3 billion pizzas are sold in the USA each year. Add to that another billion of frozen pizzas. Pepperoni is the most popular of all pies ordered and about 17% of US restaurants are pizzerias.
It’s hard to believe that before World War II, pizza was little known outside Italy or Italian immigrant communities. Now they are popular most any where you go.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore.
Jack Brooks
I love pizza, and while pizza dough is easy enough to make, I usually make french bread pizzas. I simply cut the bread in half and top it with pizza sauce, pepperoni and cheese and then bake in the oven until the cheese is melted. You can easily add other toppings like green pepper, onions, sausage and mushrooms.
I do have a recipe for easy pizza dough to share in case you might like to make your own.
Homemade Pizza Dough
1 c. warm water
2 pkg. yeast
2 tbsp. sugar
3 c. flour
Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Add flour. Mix and kneed until smooth. Oil the bowl. Return dough to bowl and let rise 30 minutes. Cut into thirds and press into 3 greased pizza pans or cookie sheets. Top with sauce and desired toppings and bake 15 minutes in a 375 degree oven or until crust is browned around the edges.
My pictures for today are of my Breakfast with my grandson on Thursday. Sorry, no pizza photos. DSIL’s mom come too and we were both delighted to spend time with our little grandson. We had craft time, a small breakfast, and visited his classroom. It’s more exercise than I’ve had early in the morning in a long time. Finding a parking space was no small thing, then walked to the school, found my grandson, then after breakfast walked to his classroom. We had to remind him to slow down as grand’ma’s don’t walk quite as fast as he does. Ha !
Much of the time I’m not even dressed before noon, let a lone out and about. After I left the school I stopped for a visit with my sister and BIL too, as their place was on the way home and I don’t often venture out their way. I think they were surprised to see me!
Today I’m cooking some chicken in the crockpot to have for the weekend. One of my cousins shared this recipe and one of my DIL’s says they have made it too. It’s a new to me recipe, but after good reviews, I’ve decided to try it too. I’m making some potato salad to have with it and some creamed spinach with the spinach I had in the freezer. Frozen leftovers always do come in handy. And it’s a great side dish for most any meal.
Sweet Baby Ray’s Crockpot Chicken
4 to 6 piece boneless chicken breast
1 bottle Barbecue Sauce
1/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. red pepper flakes, optional
1/4 c. brown sugar.
1/2 tso, garlic powder
Mix together all ingredients except chicken Put chicken in the crockpot and pour the sauce mixture over it. Cook on low heat for 4 to 6 hours.
I don’t have any chicken breasts on hand so am making do with leg quarters instead. They should be just as delicious!
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
To an Italian there is even something sacred about bread. It is a symbol of of the gift of life itself and that which sustains it.

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Grandchildren are such a delight and always make me smile !
It looked like fun with your grandson, Ma! They always like to show off their stuff to their grandparents! Good that his other grandma could come too. I like that recipe for the chicken. I'm going to try it sometime. Who can resist pizza too, though we tend to get ours from a pizza place rather than make it homemade.

I love the handprint flower and you made me want a big pizza!!!
What a cutie, your X-factor! He must've been so proud having both grandmas there!
Pizzas are such a happy food, aren't they? Citing a question from last week's Medley, I asked my friend, "If your life was a meal, what kind of meal would you want it to be?" Right away, Debbie replied: "Pizza! Everyone likes pizza and it goes everywhere!" LOL. Because Tom and my preferences are so different, we always wind up ordering two, separate small pies.
