ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day which encourages us to look beyond such annoyances. We shouldn’t stress over all the little mistakes in our past. Leave your worries behind and greet the new day with optimism and a positive outlook.
The saying ‘don’t cry over spilled milk’ is and age old proverb that has been around for hundreds of years. The saying most likely comes from European folklore. According to old tales, fairies were particularly found of milk and would drink up any spills left behind.
Today is a day to let bygones be bygones. Don’t worry about little things that are in the past and focus on the things that are headed your way.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Think about what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies an smilie about three o’clock every afternoon and the lay down with out blanks for a nap.
Robert Fulghum
Raising a large family as I did, there were lots of glasses of spilled milk at out house. I have to laugh because although I admonished the kids to pay attention and not spill their milk, I probably spilled a lot more than they did. Ha!
It’s true, we shouldn’t hang on to or fret about those little mistakes we make and just be thankful as it could have been worse. Mistakes are only ways to learn and grow and make us better. Once you’ve spilled a gallon of milk on the floor you are much more careful the next time.
I do love milk and try to have at least one glass a day, if not more. It’s good for us in so many ways. Milk is a good source of Vitamin D and calcium, which order adults tend to need more to maintain bone strength, preserve muscle strength and prevent osteoporosis. I buy a gallon of milk at a time only because it is usually less expensive than what they charge for a half gallon and I try to use it up before it expires. So today I thought I’d share a recipe that uses milk. This dish was one of my husbands favorites. His grandmother made the best that I’d ever tasted and I could never hope to match hers.
Old Fashioned Rice Pudding
2/3 c. Minute rice
2 3/4 c. milk
1/3 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt.
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 sp nutmeg
Cinnamon
1/2 c. raisins, optional
Combine rice, milk and raisins, sugar, butter, salt, vanilla and nutmeg in a buttered one quart baking dish. Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Stirring after 15 minutes and again when pudding is done. Sprinkle with cinnamon . Serve warm or chilled. Pudding thickens as it stands. Serve 4.
It’s Monday and we all get a fresh start today. So I’m leaving the past week behind and taking the opportunity to start the week with a clean slate. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow hasn’t come, but today is a gift and it’s our choice what we do with it.
Today’s pictures are of the snow around my house in January, but it looks much the same outside today. It has snowed once again and every thing looks white again. Like a clean slate.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
There is no sense crying over spilt milk. Why bewail what is done and cannot be recalled?
Sophocles
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Today is a gift! A fresh start, a clean slate.
Those are pretty pictures of the snow! So true like a clean slate. We laugh here because it seems whenever son and family are over for a meal, something gets spilled. We've taken to making sure there are plenty of napkins or paper towels around for when the spillage occurs :)

I love rice pudding so I took a screen shot of the recipe! Thank you for sharing it.
It doesn’t look like you’re going to be going anywhere today by the looks of the January photo if it is much the same conditions now.
When the quads were little I would give them real glasses at the dining room table. They spilled from time to time but they also learned table manners and not to fret over spilled milk. I think grandparents are more patient than parents and that’s understandable.
I’m going over again to spend the night with my grand quads. And I’m taking cream cheese swirl brownies with me!
Happy Monday, Friend! I love starting my day with a visit here with you....
Smiling. When son was but 7 or 8, my dad took him on a cruise … dress for dinner, the whole 9 yards. How he admonished Troy to be careful at the table and not spill his milk glass -- then Daddy did just that!
I try and not beat myself up about mistakes I've made in the past. (Some days are easier than others.) Something I spotted on Facebook helps underscore my resolve: "Never be a prisoner to your past. It was just a lesson, not a life sentence."
