ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Letter Writing Day, which is a day to take a few minutes and send someone a hand written letter. Most letters now a days are on email and instant messages or typed on and internet keyboard.
This time of year is a good excuse to sit down and write a letter to someone you’ve been out of touch with, if you’re limited for time you might even consider including a short hand written note inside you holiday cards.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart.
Phyllis Theroux
I used to write a Christmas letter to family and friends, and then I shortened it to a note inside my cards and this year, I may not even send out cards. I have them somewhere here, but haven’t yet found them. If they are found I’ll send them out, but if I don’t, this post of mine will have to suffice.
It’s frustrating to know you have something and can’t find it. I put them away for safe keeping and I know that wherever they are, they are safe. Ha!
I’m guilty of using email much more than a handwritten letter. I have good intentions, but then days go by and it doesn’t happen. I think my handwriting has suffered too due to lack of use.
Although the cost of postage has risen along with everything else, I’ve never let the cost stop me from mailing out cards. With all the birthdays and special occasions in my family I do send a lot of them out. It’s just that my cards for Christmas are lost and can’t be found.
Today’s pictures are of just a few of the cards I received last year. I’m having intermittent internet service this morning so we’ll see if this post goes out at all today. I have called for service.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Cotton Candy Day
Cotton candy is a sugary treat that melts in your mouth and is a favorite at amusement parks, circuses, fairs and sports venues. It was originally called fairy floss. It is made from Floss sugar.
You don't have to wait for the carnival or circus to enjoy cotton candy. This recipe lets you make the sugary treat right at home. I haven’t tried to do this myself, but here’s the recipe in case you might want to try it out.
Homemade Cotton Candy
2 1/2 cubs sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 pinch salt
Nonstick cooking spray
food coloring, optional
fruit flavored extract such as raspberry or lemon, optional
Cover your working surface with plastic wrap. This could also be done outside. It gets messy.
Spray a wire cooling rack with nonstick cooking spray
In a large saucepan over medium heat combine sugar, corn syrup, water and salt. Stir until sugar is melted.
Using a candy thermometer, carefully measure the temp. Heat to 320 degrees.
Pour the melted sugar into a heat resistant bowl. Add any food coloring or flavoring and stir well with a whisk.
Working quickly dip the whisk into the sugar syrup and drizzle quickly back and forth over the tray letting small wisps liquid fall down. Repeat drizzle back and forth until you have several strings that begin to form a nest of sugar.
Gather the wisps in your hand and form little balls around lollipop sticks or cones. Serve immediately.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Gratitude takes three forms: a feeling in the heart, an expression in words, and a giving in return.
John Wanamaker
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5506. for letters, written words that last
5507. for sugary treats
5508. for emails that keep me in touch
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Letters are among the most significant memorial a person can leave behind them.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I’m sending Christmas Cards for the first time in years! I don’t think I have your address but I would love to send you one if you could email it to me. You can find my email on the right hand side of my blog.
It is finally cold in Texas! Will be a freeze tonight! Glad I picked my roses yesterday!
Such pretty cards from years past! I haven't sent out cards in a few years and don't plan to this year. It is so convenient just to send an email; hand letter writing will soon be a lost art. Hope your internet service gets fixed soon!
betty
I so miss all the Christmas cards - particularly those with pictures and letters. Mother kept them all for me to read when I'd go visit; and tho' I scarcely remembered them it made me feel warm and connected. (Sounds dumb?)
The last few years we've not sent cards, either, so I shouldn't sit over here complaining.
