ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

WELCOME WINTER
Today is Look on the Bright Side Day. We hope you see the light. Literally looking on the bright side may be a bit difficult today. It is winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. And, December days tend to be cloudy.
Look on the Bright Side Day is a day to be optimistic. The term itself is an optimistic one. It calls upon us to look for something positive, out of an otherwise bad or sad situation. Often, a bad experience has positive lessons to be learned.
If you have a bad day yesterday, look on the bright side.... today is another day, and an optimistic one at that!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
There’s a bright spot in every dark cloud.
Bruce Beresford
This may be the darkest day of the year, but on the bright side, from now on the days will start to get longer one minute at a time. That is something I’m looking forward to.
No matter how dark the days may seem, we know that Spring will come again. It’s a good thing we have so many reasons to celebrate this time of year to make our days a little brighter. When you look on the bright side it doesn’t mean that every day is a good one but that there is something good to be found in every day.
Believe it or not the leaves are still blowing around here. Although mine have been cleared, they’ve blown in my car port from other’s yards so today I’ll be getting the leaf blower out once again. I’m taking advantage of the nicer weather and will continue what seems to be an endless project.
Today’s pictures are of my out of state family who just happened to be together at the same time the rest of gathered last Saturday. It was nice to know they have family to be with too. While we had snow, they had rain, but they braved the weather and had fun anyway.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It's Ribbon Candy Day which is bound to make your holidays just a little sweeter. The holiday treat was created centuries ago in Europe, where confectioners first designed it to decorate their shops, and the curls were done by hand around the candy maker’s thumb. Today the candy is manufactured on a large scale with machines but is still carefully tended by candy makers to make sure the delicate ribbons come out perfectly.
Ribbon candy eventually made its way to America, where it quickly caught on, becoming a sensation in New England and then spreading throughout the country. Although it is enjoyed as part of many family traditions, only a few companies still make it, and it is usually only found in stores beginning in the fall through the Christmas holidays. Ribbon Candy has a special place in the hearts of countless people as part of their holiday traditions.
I’m not going to share a recipe to make your own as this is no small feat, but it might be a good day to purchase a few boxes and give them away. The surprise and smiles will help to remind us what Christmas is all about.

What a perfect post for you - looking on the bright side! You are a ray of sunshine every day!
You reminded me that I haven’t bought a box of ribbon candy yet! I will do that on Friday when we get out for any last minute errands.
Leaves are an issue here as well! I’ll still be blowing them in March!
Oh my gosh, I haven't seen ribbon candy for years! I remember loving it when I was a child. Your reminder about the added brightness each day reminded me of one of my coworkers. He lived near me before I moved here to the motherhouse and I used to ride to and from work with him. This added brightness each day was often a big part of his conversation.
Our leaves are still blowing too, MA. Lordy! Lots and *lots* of leaves. Now that hubby will be retired soon, maybe that will change?!! I can only hope! :-D Blessings~ Andrea xxx
That was nice your out of state family got together to do something together while you all were celebrating miles away. Great pictures of what looked like a fun time! Those leaves sound like they are going to be a never ending battle for you, Ma!
