ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Monkey Day which is a day to quit monkeying around and take a moment to participate in this celebration of all things simian.
There are three distinct types of simian primates. Familiar species like baboons and macaques are classified as Old World Monkeys. Capuchins and howler monkeys are New World Monkeys, and chimpanzees and gorillas are Apes. There are currently 264 known monkey species in the world.
That’s what I call a lot of monkey business!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Christmas now surrounds us,
Happiness is everywhere
Our hands are busy with many tasks
As carols fill the air.
Shirley Sallay
There is not much monkeying around going on here at my house. Although it’s terribly cold and snowy outside today is my day to venture out. I have a hair appointment and need to pick up a few things at the store. The streets here where I live look snow covered but I’m sure once I’m on the highway they’ll be clear.
Things are pretty much falling in place as far as what I’ve needed to get done this week. I really don’t have much left to get ready except for some potato salad that I need to make tomorrow for our gathering on Saturday.
Compared to what Christmas used to be, things are much simpler now for me. The babes have taken over hosting our get togethers and instead of a big meal to make, I now need only take a dish to share.
Life in the slow lane is good.
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Bouillabaisse Day, a day to celebrate a tasty Mediterranean fish stew or soup.
Bouillabaisse is believed to have originated in Marseilles, France. It is extremely popular all around the Mediterranean, and is a specialty in ports across the region.
Bouillabaisse is a fish stew or soup. All agree the fish should be white fillets. Recipes call for variety of fish, including cod, snapper, flounder, halibut, sea bass, monk fish, and more.
The picture above is of potato soup I made this week. It was pretty good too.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Like snowflakes, my Christmas memories gather and dance - each beautiful, unique and too soon gone.
Deborah Whipp
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5527. for a simpler way of life
5528. for road crews who do a good job
5529. for a car that gets me where I need to go
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
My idea of Christmas, whether old fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?
Bob Hope
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

As we age and Life slows down a bit, it’s only natural for the young to pick up and take the lead. I still have all my children and grandchildren here on Christmas Eve and we do a big meal. I’m sure this will slowly change in coming years and I’m already asking God to prepare my heart for it. I’m certain my body will be more than ready!
That potato soup does look yummy! I bet it was a good way to warm up your body with all the cold weather you guys have been having :)
Haven't made potato salad is years, might make a batch soon.
betty
Oh MA, that potato soup!! Yummmeeeee!!! I still host the Christmas bash and I don't know if that will ever end but it probably will. Dan & I are 61 years old and still able to buy a good amt of presents for our children, children-in-law, and grandchildren so.... it's really not practical to haul all that to another location. But one day, perhaps in the not-so-distant future (Dan's retiring in January!), we'll be doing the same thing as you. And that will be just fine with me. :) Merry Christmas, dear blogging friend MA, to you & all those you love. May you have a blessed and peace-filled holiday and new year ahead. Love~ Andrea xxx
Oooh, now I've a craving for some of that potato soup! 'Hope you enjoyed being pampered a bit at the hair salon today. Isn't having someone wash your hair the best feeling?! :)
Your soup looks fabulous Pam! I think I learned some new things about Monkeys reading this! You are never too old to learn something new. I hope you enjoyed your visit to the Hair dressers! Love and hugs, xoxo
