ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Wright Brothers Day which commemorates the Wright brothers' first successful flight in heavier than air, mechanically propelled craft, accomplished on December 17, 1903, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
The Wright Brothers researched gliding and bird flight, then invented a way to twist the wings and control flight. With a cable, they could lift either wing, fly level, or make banked turns. Travel was never the same. The airplane forever changed transportation. The world became a smaller place to explore.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Christmas has a way of bringing out the best in everyone.
Bing Crosby
We had a wonderful family gathering yesterday and DS#6 and his family did a great job of hosting this years celebration. It was a fun packed day and I’m sure everyone is moving a little slowly today, I know I am. Today’s pictures are just the beginning and I’ll be sharing more pictures of the day later on. I got so many good ones. I start by showing you who was there.
The party was at one of their local parks where they had a cabin for the day. The weather was beautiful for this time of year. Even though we had snow, we also had some sun and warmer weather. The grand babes loved having snowball fights and building snow men too.
Today is the 3rd Sunday of Advent and Christmas is about a week away. I’m definitely thankful it’s my day of rest. The week ahead won’t be quite as busy for me and I can now take things at a slower pace.
We’ve got rain in the forecast for later on today. Thankfully it is finally warmer. It was just way too cold. The single digit temperatures we had this past week will assure the utility bills are going to be higher and a break from that is welcome. The snow will be melting but not to worry, as Frosty the snowman says…It’ll be back again some day…
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!

WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Maple Syrup Day which provides us with the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate this delicious American treat. This sweet and unique flavor originated in America. Native American Indians were the first to harvest and boil the sap of the maple tree into a thick syrup.
It takes 30-50 gallons of sap to make one gallon of maple syrup. Maple syrup can also be boiled down to produce maple cream, maple sugar, and maple sugar candy.
Pour real maple syrup onto your pancakes or waffles. Or, for an evening treat, pour warm maple syrup onto vanilla ice cream.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.
Burton Hillis
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5536. for inventors like the Wright Brothers
5537. for family, the best gift under the tree
5538. for maple syrup, very good on vanilla ice cream
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Oh how wonderful, MA!! Your time looks like it was divine... as I thought it would be. Move slow all you want to today. xxx
What great props! I'm especially tickled at the expression on your wee g'daughter's face watching her dad (DS #3).
One of my co-workers brought me back a little vial of maple syrup from her trip to New England, but it's so cute I've not opened it.
I am working on a post about The Wright Brothers! I should have finished it and posted it today!
Oh and reading that comment above...I wish someone would bring me back maple syrup from New England, that is a very nice gift! :-)
