ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Christmas Card Day which honors Sir Henry Cole of England, who created the first commercial Christmas card in 1843. That makes today the perfect time to get started on your own cards for the holiday season!
A Christmas card is generally commercially designed and purchased for the occasion. The content of the design might relate directly to the Christmas narrative with depictions of the
Nativity of Jesus, or have Christian symbols such as the Star of Bethlehem or a white dove representing both the Holy Spirit and Peace.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A little smile, a word of cheer, A bit of love from someone near, A little gift from one held dear, Best wishes for the coming year--These make a Merry Christmas!
John Greenleaf Whittier
I’ve another picture of Carl the elf to share today. Can you see him? Looks like he’s having lots of fun!
My Christmas elf came in the form of the service man yesterday for my intermittent internet problems. He said the problem was in the outside lines and nothing he could handle, that there was a different crew that took care of those and they should be working on it this weekend. I can only hope so. Thankfully, I do have a connection that works sometimes. It’s very frustrating to be on line and then have an interruption of a couple of hours while you wait to be back on line. I’m spoiled, I know but when you are paying for a service, you expect good service.
I use my internet in order to watch TV too and stream programs to watch. There is no cable company available here. The one thing that is always dependable and free I’ve found, is the radio. I have it on all though out the day, especially with the Christmas music playing.
It’s a another busy day here at my house and it’s looking like a good one to be inside. S— is in the forecast and staying in where it’s warm and cozy unless of course, I have to go out to clear the walks and drive way …We’ll see.
Surprising they had snow in Texas yesterday and nothing here where you’d expect it. You just never know what to expect !
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Pastry Day! Pastries have been around since 2600 B.C. The Egyptians made doughnut like pastries out of crude flour and honey, and then dipped them in wine.
In the 7th century, pastry making developed as a culinary art form in the Middle East. It spread to Europe after the Crusades, and French and Italian chefs developed their own version of the recipes and experimented with new techniques. There are now many different types of pastry including shortcrust, flaky, puff, choux, and phyllo.
Crescent rolls are an easy way to make pastries and I found a new to me recipe to make this holiday.
Raspberry Cream Cheese Candy Cane Coffee Crescent Danish
1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
4 oz cream cheese softened
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 cup fresh raspberries
2 tablespoons raspberry preserves
1 tablespoon butter melted
Glaze:
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 to 1 teaspoon milk
Heat event to 375 degrees. Line large cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper. Unroll dough, separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle in half length wise. On cookie sheet, place present triangles length wise in a long row, pointing in same direction, with edges overlapping slightly on cookie sheet. Press over lapping edges together to seal, but leave triangle points free.
In small bow beat cream cheese and 2 tables spoons sugar with spoon till well blended. Spread cream cheese mixture in a 2 1/2 strip on widest part of dough, leaving 1/2 edge. In small bow, toss raspberries and preserves. Place on top of cream cheese layer.
Fold over tips of dough to enclosing filling. Pinch ends of dough on edge to attach. Gently picking up top end of dough, curve one end of strip to form top of candy cane. Brush dough with melted butter. Sprinkling 1 teaspoon granulated sugar over the top.
Bake 16 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes on cookie sheet. Use a spatula to carefully help slide Danish from parchment to serving platter.
In small bowl mix powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of milk until well blended. Drizzle with fork over the top. Serve warm.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
So remember while December
Brings the only Christmas day,
In the year let there be Christmas
In the things you do and say.

I did see Carl the elf! Such cute displays! That would be frustrating to have the internet go down like that. I rely on it for work, so that's hours I wouldn't get paid or have to make the work up sometime later. I hope the outside lines get fixed sooner than later!

Good morning! Would you believe I’m already up with my first cup of coffee!
Texas getting snow is unusual but the fact that it was in SOUTH Texas instead of North Texas made it even more amazing!
Speaking of a radio - that’s what is on my Christmas Wish List! I told Louis Dean I want one for the ranch and one for the gazebo.
I mentioned Bose because it heard it was a goood brand.....but when I pulled them up I was shocked at how much they cost! Hundreds!
I told him NOT BOSE!
I copied the crescent roll recipe. Will be glad when my decorating is DONE! Hopefully by Monday as I’m hosting a Christmas Tea Party on Tuesday afternoon!
Wishing you a good weekend!
Carl looks happy, indeed! ... and there's my favorite reindeer. :)
My Alabama family had snow last night, as well. No surprise, we're supposed to be 78 degrees tomorrow.
That's interesting about the origins of pastry. Have a lovely evening!
There is nothing more frustrating in our modern lives than internet problems. That's when we realise just how very much we rely on it! Loved all of your photos today, but then I always do. I finally got all of my cards written and am ready to post them out today. God willing the roads will be passable! Your recipe looks delicious as always. God bless and Happy Day to you who brings a spot of brightness into so many other lives! xoxo
