ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Make Up Your Mind Day which is a very decisive day. All during the year, you've put on hold, many issues and decisions. Eventually, they need to be resolved and decided upon. Well, today is the day. It's not a day to procrastinate. It's not a day to put off making a decision. If you are going to make up your mind this year, you'd better do it real soon. And, when you think about it, it's a great idea to clean the slate in advance of the new year!
You may want to begin, by making up your mind whether you will make New Year's resolutions. Then, make up your mind just what those resolutions will be.
Have a Happy Make up Your Mind Day!!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.
Oprah Winfrey
There is not a lot left for me to make up my mind about. All the big decisions are done and over. I downsized big time this year. Along with that, I gave away all the things that were not needed here at my house. I’ve simplified my life and there’s really not a lot of any thing I need to do at this point except enjoy it.
Most of the time the biggest decisions I make each day is what to have for dinner. Ha! That is one of the biggest benefits of living in the slow lane.
I’m not making resolutions, but will be setting a few goals for the new year. So far my goals include:
Reminding People of how much the mean to me
Forgiving people that have hurt me
Being the person I want to be
Hoping More. Even if the year that just ended was challenging, there’s a New Year full of hope which is about to start.
Today’s pictures are of last New Years Eve at the old house with DD and her family. One of our traditions is to open up a fortune cookie for the new year. It’s just a fun thing to do for us. And that is what DD is doing in the picture above. I’ve got a new batch on hand for 2018.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday and a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Champagne Day which is a perfect day to observe this holiday because it is customary to make a New Years Eve toast with champagne. It’s time raise a glass to the quintessential wine of celebration, good cheer and toasts everywhere: Champagne.
About the only bubbly drink I have here at my house is ginger ale. So I’ll be using that to toast the New Year instead.
Mock Champagne is a cinch to whip up! There are only three ingredients in the recipe. Ginger ale. white grape juice, and raspberries. Use the raspberries on a stick to swirl in your drink.
Here's a toast to the future, a toast to the past, and a toast to our friends, far and near. May the future be pleasant, the past a bright dream; may our friends remain faithful and dear.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Everything ends. But there are always new beginnings.
Ralph Bellamy
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

You know I thought of this!
Now I'm singing the Lovin' Sponful, too! :)
Those are sound goals, for sure. I just need to make up my mind to get a move on the myriad of steps necessary to relocate ... starting with marketing THIS place.
Wishing you a HAPPY - and warm - NEW YEAR!
Thanks Kay, that is a catchy tune! Happy New Year Pam!! I loved seeing the pictures of last years New Years Celebrations. You certainly have a beautiful family. Loved your thoughts on all of it. Downsizing is a huge challenge to cope with and something which I am struggling with. But what a load off when you finally get on top of it. I hope that your 2018 is a good year for you and for your family. God bless you all! xoxo
