ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Santa's List Day, which is a day to discover who’s been naughty or nice. Santa knows.
It's the day that Santa makes his Naughty and Nice lists. Santa Claus is believed to make a list of children throughout the world, categorizing them according to their behavior, naughty or nice, and to deliver presents, including toys, and candy to all of the well-behaved children in the world, and sometimes coal to the naughty children, on the single night of Christmas Eve. He accomplishes this feat with the aid of the elves who make the toys in the workshop and the reindeer who pull his sleigh.
We have it on good authority, that this day was created at the North Pole. You’ve still got 21 days until the most anticipated day of the year, so go out there and do as many good deeds as you can! Perhaps you’ll redeem yourself… you never know who is watching!
Happy Santa's List Day!!!!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You better watch out. You better not cry. Better not pout, I'm telling you why, Santa Claus is coming to town. He's making a list, And checking it twice; Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice. Santa Claus is coming to town…
In many of my children’s homes there is an Elf sitting on shelf that reports everyone’s behavior back to Santa. The picture above is of DS#3’s family elf. His name is Carl and you can see he’s back again this year to count down the days until Christmas. He knows when you are sleeping and he knows when you’re awake, so be good for goodness sake.
Just like Santa I’m make lists here too, but of a different kind. They are the to do lists of things to be done before Christmas and they are unending.
I did get the Nativity set up this week and that is what the other pictures are of today. I added some poinsettias to it this year as they are the official flower for Christmas.
The temps for now continues to be in the 50’s but come mid week that will definitely change. If not for the Christmas decorations it wouldn’t look much at all like Christmas, but that is going to change too as the S___ word is also in the long range forecast.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!

WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Cookie Day!
Cookies come in all different flavors, shapes and sizes and this time of year many are baking Christmas Cookies. I did a search to find out the most popular Christmas Cookies and they said that the top 5 are: Gingerbread men, Peanut butter blossoms, Oreo Balls, classic cookie cutter sugar cookies, and last but not least Chocolate mint cookies. They’re the perfect combination of chocolate and mint. The Andes mints on top add to the deliciousness of the cookie. I didn’t have recipes for the Orea Balls or for the Chocolate Mint cookies so today’s recipes will be for both.
Oreo Balls
1 pkg. 8 oz Cream cheese, softened
40 Oreo Cookies, finally crushed, divided
4 pkg. 4oz each Semi Sweet Chocolate broken into pieces, melted
Mix cream cheese and 3 cups cookie crumbs till blended.
Shape into 48 one inch balls. Freeze 10 minutes. Dip balls in melted chocolate, place in a single layer in shallow waxed paper lined pan. Sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
Chocolate Mint Cookies
1 pkg. devils food cake mix
1/2 c vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 pkg Andes Mints
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl combine cake mix, eggs and oil.
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet
Bake for 6 to 9 minutes.
Take baking sheet out of oven and while cookies are still very hot, place an Andes Mint on top of each cookie.
The mint will melt in about 5 minutes. Take a spoon and smooth the mint out like frosting.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.
Burton Hillis
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5497. for lists, they help keep me on track
5498. for cookies, of all kinds
5499. for poinsettias, the Christmas flower
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Lovely nativity set. The pointsietta definitely adds color to it. I didn't put up a tree this year, but did put out the nativity set along with a few other decorations.

Your Nativity set is beautiful Pam! I love the Poisetta accents! They go perfectly! When I worked at the Manor we were given a lovely Poinsetta each year. I haven't had one since then. Every year I think I should get one and then I don't. Loved your thoughts on Santa's list also. Its nice to think that we have 21 days to change it all around! ;-) Happy Monday to you and thanks for all that you share! xoxo
Happy December Monday Morning!
My daughter, Summer, has elf on the shelf.....his name is Oscar. They go to a lot of trouble with him. My other daughter, Amber, has quadruplets and she absolutely resumes to have anything to do with this idea! Her plate is too full as it is!
*hahaha* Love your son's Elf!! Made me smile!! And your Nativity is beautiful, MA... simple and sweet... just my kind of style. And National Cookie Day!! What's not to like about that, eh?! Blessings~ Andrea XXX
"Carl" is adorable! I'm a little old for dolls, but 'thinking I might ask Santa for an elf of my own this year. :)
Your Nativity is so lovely. Like Andrea said, I like that it's understated ... no bling is GOOD. LOL.
I really likes your blog! You have shared the whole concept really well and very beautifully soulful read!
Thanks for sharing
