ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Merry Christmas from my house to yours !
Life is a Special Occasion!

It’s Bake Cookies Day which comes at an opportune time. It arrives amidst the major December holidays. It serves as a reminder to bake holiday cookies, if you haven't done so already.
People, young and old, celebrate this day by baking their favorite cookies. Make a party of it, and bake cookies in groups with family, friends, kids and grandkids. Don't stop at baking just one kind of cookies. Plan to bake a number of cookies. Try a new recipe, or two, or three, or....
If you bake more than you can eat, good for you! Wrap up gift trays filled with cookies for friends and neighbors. Most cookies freeze well,
too.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Think what a better world it would be if we all — the whole world — had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap.
Robert Fulghum
There are so many goodies to eat here at my house I doubt I’ll be making cookies today or anytime soon. But I do love them! It seems like being cooped up inside these days is very conducive to snacking and
I’ve been doing plenty of that.
To top things off, rarely does a day go by that I don’t take a nap. I blame it on the fact that I’m usually up very early in the morning and a nap is needed to get me through the rest of the day.
After all the gift wrapping last week, the house is in need of some TLC here today. I need to return everything to a bit of order. A lot was let go in order to get all ready for our family Christmas gathering this past Saturday.
There are probably still a couple days worth of pictures from Saturday to share so I hope you don’t mind. Not only did we share a meal together, but we also played the white elephant gift game and had an ornament exchange. There were also some fantastic Christmas sweaters worn so I had to get pictures of them too!
One thing I know for sure, that Christmas spirit is in my heart to stay!
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
In honor of Bake Cookies Day, here’s a cookie recipe you might want to try:
Easy Snickerdoodle Cookies
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 Tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
cinnamon sugar: 2 Tablespoons sugar plus 1 Tablespoon cinnamon.
Cream the butter and sugar. Add egg, milk, and vanilla. Then add flour, baking powder, and salt. Roll dough into 1.5" balls and roll them in cinnamon sugar. Bake for 12 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes approx. 1 1/2 dozen cookies.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Cookies are made of butter and love.

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Is that you in the front of that one picture, MA, sitting in the chair holding what looks to be a wash board?

Oh, I never get tired of seeing pictures of your family! 'Love the shot of you with the washboard. :)
Are are you going to show us what you got in the White Elephant exchange? I've only played once in my life, but what a hoot it was.
Love the picture of you with your family Pam! I think my favorite Christmas sweater is the last one on your boy with the snoopy on it. I love the Charlie Brown Christmas show! I am so pleased you had such a lovely Family Christmas time together! Family times are the best of times! Your snickerdoodle recipe looks really good. I have not made them in a long time. Perhaps it is time to change that. God bless you for all the smiles you share with us. You really are a ray of light! It is a cold and dismal rainy day here today, so your light was very welcome! xoxo
