ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A snowflake is one of God's most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together!
Anonymous
I’m not sure why they call them Ugly Christmas Sweaters, but they are a lot of fun to wear. I have several Christmassy sweaters and shirts and wear them every day of December !
When our family gathered for Christmas last year we were encouraged to wear Christmas sweaters and that is what today’s pictures are of.
Here we are at the end of what has been a very busy week at my house. It was quite busy enough without dealing with snow, but we cannot do anything about the weather, but deal with it. We wound up with 3-5 inches of that white stuff depending on how the wind blew.
Deal with it I did. I got out the trusty snow blower for the first time this year and cleared the driveway. I do have to share this drive with 2 others, but they seldom do anything with the snow except for driving through it. I’m at the end of the drive and it makes for slippery go of it when the snow gets all packed and turns to ice.
They say we’re to have more snow come our way today too. Hopefully not as much. Tomorrow is our family gathering and I’m hoping for a little nicer weather.
I’ll finish the wrapping today and pack up everything to take tomorrow. I’ve made a list and checked it twice…it is what it is.
If you happen to live where there is no snow consider yourself blessed. If you live where there is a lot of snow you’re still blessed anyway. Everyday I wake up is a good one ! Take good care all!
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC Friday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Lemon Cupcake Day which is for those that enjoy the tart, refreshing taste of lemon.

1/2 tsp.baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 c. sour cream
Frosting
3 tbsp. butter, softened
2 1/4 c. confectioner’s sugar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. grated lemon zest
1 to 2 tbsp. milk
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition. Beat in lemon zest and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Beat well after each addition.
Filled greased or paper lined muffin cups with 1/4 cup of batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
For frosting, cream butter and confectioner’s sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add the lemon juice, vanilla, lemon zest and milk. Beat until smooth. Frost Cupcakes.

Gee, I don't think I have any "ugly" Christmas sweaters. Some are just a little... busier... than others. :)
We rarely get snow here in Georgia, but we got some last week, too! Anywhere from five to eleven inches... unheard of! Now, there's only a few little patches left, but the neighborhood children had a ball. Hordes of snowmen are slowly disappearing.
Since I'll be taking the rest of the year off from blogging to spend time with family and friends, I'll take the opportunity to wish you a very merry Christmas now. May your house and heart be filled with love.
Some of the ugly sweaters in your pictures are made beautiful by those inside them!! *haha* Those lemon cupcakes sound good. That's an old-fashioned frosting recipe too.... which is what my mother (and me too, by proxy) used to make for her cakes. Love it!! Enjoy your family's Christmas tomorrow! xxx
I like festive Christmas sweaters. I think none of them should be called "ugly" because they are all so cute in their own way. That is good for you, Ma, to get out and clear the driveway as you can. I know how ice can be slippery and always worried about slipping on it when we lived in Montana. I hope your family gathering tomorrow is one filled with fun!
betty
What a nice gesture, your clearing the driveway for all who share it! (I hope they appreciate it.)
We LOVE lemon at our house any day of the year. This recipe looks like a keeper!
Have fun tomorrow!
Hope you have an amazing day with your family tomorrow. Be careful when clearing snow my friend. No broken hips allowed!!
