ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Workaholic Day which is dedicated to people who spend all their time working. It recognizes the guy, or gal, who works all of the time, even during holidays. While just about everyone is enjoying the Fourth of July holiday, the Workaholic is off working on some project. He can't relax. It's not in his nature. He's addicted to work. It's not necessarily work out of need. It's work because there either is work to be done, or there's a perceived work project to do.
While dedication is certainly an admirable trait, a healthy work/life balance is also important. Today is the day to step back and take it easy. Take a nap, read a book or watch a movie.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A good rest is half the work
Old Proverb
I would never be accused of being a workaholic. Truth is I work a little and rest a lot these days. There was a time when it seemed that I worked all the time. I had a job and I had a home and children to care for, but now I’m retired and enjoying life in the slow lane.
It’s important to remember that while there will always be something to do, we need to know how and when to say, no more today. We all need time to play and time to rest in order to be at our best.
I remember when I was in school, we had recess every day. It felt good to get outside and stretch after hours at a desk. It’s the same for adults. All work and no play is not a good thing at all.
Today I’ll be doing some laundry, and in between the loads, it’s time to grab the duster as the corners, the mop boards, the blinds all need it. Maybe I’ll put on some music too. Other than that, I’ll spend some time in my rocker. I have 3 to enjoy. One in the living room, one on the carport and one in the sunroom. I am blessed and I am thankful.
Slow and easy does it. A little work and a lot of rest for me.
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
National Apple Turnover Day
Don’t be confused by the picture. I had these juicy cherries yesterday and had to share a picture...Turnovers are great for breakfast and for dessert. Served them up with a scoop of ice cream and you are in for a treat. In honor of the day I have an easy recipe to share.
Homemade Crescent Apple Turnovers
2 Apples
8 Crescent rolls, 1 package
Cinnamon Sugar
4 Tbsp. Butter
Peel and cut up the apples. Place into a preheat skilled with melted butter. Cook apples until tender, stirring occasionally.
While apples are cooking prepare the crescent rolls. Pinch together 2 of the crescents to form a rectangle. Spread some softened butter over the crescent rolls rectangles and sprinkle with Cinnamon Sugar.
Scoop the hot cooked apples onto the crescent rectangles. Fold over and gently pinch the edges together. Bake according to directions on crescent roll package. Generally at 375 degrees for 9 to 12 minutes.
Drizzle with a powdered sugar glass. Serve and enjoy!
Makes 4 servings.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
God didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?

Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5041. for a work to do, but not to overdo
5042. for apples, good and good for you
5043. for bakeries, they do my baking in the summertime
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
The man who doesn't relax and hoot a few hoots voluntarily, now and then, is in great danger of hooting hoots and standing on his head for the edification of the pathologist and trained nurse, a little later on.

A bit of love from someone dear…

I'm right there with ya, MA... more rest than work. But I figure I've earned the privilege. Have a great day!

That is great with the 3 rockers! Plenty of opportunities for rest. It is good to live in the slow lane if one can do it.

My dad was a workaholic. For most of my life he had two jobs, and jumped at any opportunity to get overtime. Even on days off, he seemed to be constantly abuzz. So sad; he once said, "If I retire, I'll die" and sure enough. Not 3 months into their new life in Florida, he suffered his first (and fatal) heart attack.
For a few years there, my son seemed to be emulating his granddad and working 7 days a week, 12 hours at a time. Thankfully, he came to recognize what he was doing and changed his ways.
