ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is Take Your House Plant for a Walk Day which is the perfect time to repot any plants that are getting to big for the pot they are in. It can also be a good time to move your plant to a different location within your house, perhaps where it might get more sun.
Not only do they look attractive, houseplants can purify the air by reducing carbon dioxide levels. They increase humidity. Reduce levels of certain pollutants and reduce airborne dust levels.
If you don’t have any houseplants, you may want to take a walk today and get one.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A garden is always a series of losses set against a few triumphs, like life itself.
May Sarton
I don’t have many houseplants any more but the one I do have definitely needs repotting. It’s a job I’ve been putting off but today I’ve been reminded it’s time. The rest of my plants are outside and they are shown in the pictures today
It’s funny we let go of doing things until we get a gentle reminder. So much happens each day that it seems we do what’s important and forget the rest. I have had to set a certain day to water my plants or I will forget. And they do need water in order to grow.
There is a lot to be said for routines like Water Me Wednesdays, it’s the day I water the plants and do the wash. I may not always follow the routine, because the unexpected can happen at any given time, but they do help me keep on track so I don’t forget to do certain things.
Thursdays have become my day to get out and about to do errands and get groceries. Today I’m shopping for things for the weekend. It’s going to be a Fantastic Friday, a Super Saturday and a Relaxing Sunday!
I hope you all have a GREAT day. Happy Thursday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Chili Dog Day which celebrates a Hot Dog topped with Chili, cheese, and onions. This classic is enjoyed by many and it’s my favorite way to use up leftover Chili.
All you need is some grilled hot dogs, your favorite chili recipe, cheese, onion and some buns.
I found a hot dog chili recipe to share with you all today. A little different twist on an old favorite.
Skillet Hot Dog Chili
yield: enough chili for 8 to 10 hot dogs
This chili is simple to make but really dresses up hot dogs. Add chili powder to suit your taste. The consistency of this chili is different than chili soup. It’s meant to be less watery so the hot bun doesn’t get soggy.
1 medium sweet onion, diced
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
Add a small amount of cooking oil to a hot skillet. Drop in diced onions and cook for about 5 minutes or until the onions began to softened.
Add ground beef to skillet with onions. Cook and stir until all pink is gone from the meat. Drain if necessary.
Put ketchup and chili powder in beef mixture and stir well. Add water and salt. Stir well. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot on hot dogs.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
We’ve all got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.
John Lennon
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5107. for green plants that provide a lot of benefits
5108. for routines that help keep me on track
5109. for hot dogs with chili, delicious!
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!

Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

You have a nice assortment of plants, Ma. Its good that you have the routine you do. I like Water Me Wednesdays. Great to accomplish 2 chores that day with watering plants and doing the wash :)
betty
"Water Me Wednesday" sounds really cute!
I've never potted or grew anything (successfully) in my life!
Nevertheless, I hope all that changes when we relocate. DIL has such an amazing green thumb, I'm going to ask for a few starters.
