ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
It’s National Sugar Cookie Day! Today, we celebrate a cookie that is seemingly simple, but totally delicious. Traditional sugar cookie recipes call for just six ingredients: sugar, flour, butter, eggs, vanilla, and baking powder.
Although sugar cookies are sometimes thought of as plain, there is more than meets the eye. Use cookie cutters to create shaped sugar cookies, and top them with frosting or sprinkles. You can also make cookie sandwiches with two sugar cookies and fillings like marshmallow, melted chocolate, or jam.
They say a balanced diet is a cookie in each hand!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Think what a better world it would be if we all — the whole world — had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap.
Robert Fulghum
It’s my day to rest and relax and I will probably take a nap too. I’ve even got some milk and cookies on hand. A little power nap does a body good.
I had a busy Saturday as the little Red Hen, my little red car, had to go into the garage for some estimates on repairs. I had some noise in the rear end that needed to be checked out and my air conditioning was not working. So it was dropped off early in the morning and DD picked me up. They gave me an estimate to get the work done, but it won’t be done till the 17th as their technician is on vacation until then. Oh well! The A/C was completely shot so we’re looking at all new there and the noise in the rear was simply hangers rusted off on the tail pipe. One very costly and one not so much, but both need to be done.
The busy part of the day was going shopping while we waiting. I got my exercise there and did a lot of walking, which is good for me but it’s more than I usually do. So today I’ll be taking it easy.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
PRAYER REQUEST
Many prayers needed today…
for my nieces MIL who is in the hospital with tests being done. Praying for answers so she can get well.
for my cousins and their families as they morn the loss of their mother. This is the 2nd aunt I’ve lost this year.
for another of my aunts as her sister also passed away the same time as my other aunt did. May the dear Lord bless and comfort them all.
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
Cut out cookies are fun but I found this recipe that does not require rolling out or cutting out.
NO ROLL SUGAR COOKIES
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup granulated white sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup salad or peanut oil
2 eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 cups flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients except for the flour. Add flour gradually mixing in using a wooden spoon.
When dough is mixed, roll into small balls between your hands. Drop onto an ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Press each cookie flat using a glass dipped in granulated sugar.
Bake cookies from 8 to 15 minutes or until lightly golden around edges, with not much color. Small cookies take a shorter time to bake while larger cookies take a longer time. Set your timer several minutes early and stand by the oven during the final few moments of baking to avoid overbaking the cookies!
If desired, decorate with crushed pecans, walnuts, macadamia nuts, slivered almonds or pistachios, or sprinkle with colored sugars and sprinkles, chocolate chips or cherries.

Always hate to do car repairs though they are necessary if one wants to keep their car running. Will say a prayer for your prayer requests!

(I can't believe I missed this post yesterday, Ma!)
Aaargh about automobile repairs! Tom went out this morning and discovered his car battery died ... not two months after mine suffered a similar fate. 2 years is about the limit out here in Arizona.
Sugar cookies have long been my favorite, especially dunked in coffee. Off-hand, I can't think of ANYthing that rivaled the taste of my mother's raw sugar-cookie dough.
