ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!

Today is National Parents Day is a special day to honor your mother and father. And, its a time to celebrate the family structure and family values. The family unit is an important structure for the health of children, and the nation. That structure, and those values, are established and nurtured by our parents
In 1994, President William Clinton proclaimed the 4th Sunday in July as National Parents Day.
It’s important to let our parents know how much we appreciate them today!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A parent's job is to encourage kids to develop a joy for life and a great urge to follow their own dreams. The best we can do is to help them develop a personal set of tools for the task.
Randy Pausch
My own parents passed away many years ago now, but I’m a parent and I have to say it’s one of the best things that ever happened to me. Being a parent has been one the greatest joys in my life. It’s definitely a day I’ll be celebrating.
Now all my children have children of their own and I’m sure they’d agree with me that being a parent is wonderful. They are all great parents to their own children and I’m sure they are very appreciated in their own right.
This is a very different world from the time I grew up and even from when I raised my own children. Being a good parent is not always easy, but definitely worthwhile.
It’s looking like today will be a partly sunny day with temps in the mid 80’s. They say that tomorrow we’ll be mid 70’s. I’ve very thankful we’re cooling down a bit and hopefully can enjoy some time outdoors.
Today’s pictures are courtesy of DD and her hubby, who recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary and who just returned from a wonderful vacation with their son, our little X Factor.
I hope you all have a RELAXING Sunday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s National Vanilla Ice Cream Day which celebrates one of Americas favorite ice cream flavors.
Vanilla and chocolate ice cream vies for the taste buds ice cream lovers. Chocolate may win the popularity contest. But, vanilla is a close second. It is also more refreshing, and more versatile.
One of my favorite ways to enjoy vanilla ice cream is by topping it with maple syrup. It’s a delicious combination. It’s also delightful with fresh peaches on top which are very much in season here this time of year.
On a hot summer day why not enjoy it all !
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The most extraordinary thing in the world is an ordinary man and an ordinary woman and their ordinary children.
G. K. Chesterton
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5095. for maple syrup and fresh peaches which make delicous toppings on ice cream
5096. for my parents and for the joy being a parent
5097. for Sundays, my day to rest
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible--the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.
Virginia Satir
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,

Looked like a nice vacation! It indeed is great to be a parent and grandparent. So much joy there!

Your daughter is so lovely!
My confirmation verse (WAY back in '64) was the one about 'honor thy father and they mother' (Exodus 20:12). Now, my 14 y/o self was all, 'me!' ..... but in later years my mother said that meant so very much to her.
OOPS! I meant to write, "meh", NOT 'me!"
