ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

WELCOME JULY!
The month of July is National Blueberry Month, National Anti Boredom Month, National Cell Phone Courtesy Month, National Hot Dog Month, National Ice Cream Month and National Picnic Month.
Today is International Joke Day which is an opportunity to get the jokes started. There’s plenty of problems, trouble and unhappiness in the world so if we’d al just chill out a little and laugh more, it might be the start of something great !
July 1st, the 182nd day of the year, marks the 2nd half of the year, a chance to step back, evaluate your year so far and to take action to get back on track if necessary. It’s an opportunity to do some hard thinking over your finances, your diet, your career and other aspects of your life that you might want to improve. Make the second half of the year count !
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book.
Irish Proverb
It’s no joke! Half of of 2017 is gone and for me it was quite a struggle. I’m not sorry to see it over and done and I’m looking forward to the 2nd half. Hopefully the coming days will be much better.
It’s true what they say about laughter being the best medicine and a joke helps to get it started. It’s hard to be anxious or sad if your laughing which is why humor is so good for you. Laughter will boost your mood and immunity as well as alleviate pain and stress.
One of the greatest stress relievers God has given us is laughter. When we laugh it restores and rejuvenates what the pressures of life have take out.
No doubt there are times when laughing is the last thing in the world we feel like doing and it feels like there is nothing to laugh about. Those are the times we need to laugh the most.
I had to laugh yesterday when I received flowers from my realtor. She said thanks for trusting me to handle the sale of your house. Truth is there were times I wasn’t so sure I did. So I laughed and I’m thankful that after all is said and done the house is sold and the flowers really are beautiful. I think they resemble fireworks!
We had some torrential rains yesterday and they say there might be a chance for scattered showers today but for the most part it’ll be sunny. We need to do some drying out here.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Gingersnap Day!
For years these crunchy cookies were a staple in our house. I have to admit I usually bought them and didn’t make my own but I did find a recipe in case you might like to try it.
These spicy cookies have a crackly and sugary top and can be served with ice cream, fresh fruit, coffee or milk.
Gingersnaps
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
Granulated sugar
Heat oven to 374 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets with shortening .
In a large bowl, beat brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg with mixer on medium speed, or mix with a spoon until well blended. Stir in remaining ingredients except granulated sugar.
Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls in to ball. Dip tops in sugar. place balls sugar side up about 3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes and immediately remove to cooling racks. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.

ADVICE FOR TODAY
One should take good care not to grow too wise for so great a pleasure of life as laughter.

Such pretty flowers! That was thoughtful of your realtor! I too hope this next half of 2017 is much kinder to you, Ma!

Those flowers do resemble fireworks ... amazing!
I join you in wishing BETTER days in this 2nd half of 2017. Over here, we've gotta knuckle down and make some hard financial (and dietary) decisions before too much more time slips by.
Have you heard of a Bullet Journal? Paula (Smidgens, Snippets and Bits) first introduced the concept, and I think that might be key.
Have a great day, Ma!
Love the flowers. So festive for this time of year. I, too, am looking forward to the second half of this year. My first half wasn't that bad but the second half can be better. I'm in the midst of planning for my second half and will come up with an awesome plan. I hope!! I love gingersnaps. Haven't thought of them for years!
