ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is Cow Appreciation Day and that’s no bull. But it is something to moo about. We can celebrate by having a cold glass of milk or firing up the grill and cook some burgers or a steak. And don’t forget the cheese. We wouldn’t have any of these without cows.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
All is not butter that comes from the cow.
Proverb
There is nothing quite like a cold glass of fresh milk. Thanks to my maternal grandparents that had a farm, I even learned how to churn milk and make butter. I got to visit them a lot when I was growing up and am very thankful for it.
These days it all comes from the store, but somewhere it all originates with a cow. There are large dairy farms not far from where I live and we can see them by taking a short drive into the country.
We often forget to appreciate the things around us, like cows, that are a part of our daily life, even though we don’t see them. We certainly get to enjoy all the benefits they provide.
It’s looking like we may have a mostly sunny day here in my part of the world. That’s a blessing to appreciate for sure after all the rain we had this week. Hopefully I’ll get outside for awhile and enjoy it.
The pictures today are from early spring as I drove by what used to be my grandparents farm. I was on my way to one of my aunts funerals at the time. Sadly we lost another aunt this week and this is where she lived in her later years. I don’t know who’ll live there next, but whoever it is, they will be blessed.
I hope you all have a SUPER Saturday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Gummy Worm Day which celebrates these stretchy, stringy, gummy delicious treats. One of our favorite ways to use gummy worms is to stick them in a delicious dessert called dirt pudding. It’s a fun dessert for summertime.
Dirt Pudding
1 pkg. Oreo cookies, finely crushed
1/2 stick butter, softened
1 pkg. 8 oz., cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners sugar
3 1/2 cups milk
2 small pkgs. instant vanilla pudding
12 oz. Cool Whip
Gummy Worms
Cream together butter, cream cheese and confectioners sugar. In a separate bowl combine milk and pudding mix and Cool Whip. Combine cream cheese and pudding mixtures.
Layer ground cookies and pudding mixture in a serving container. Beginning and ending with the cookie crumbs. Decorate as desired. Hang gummy worms over the side of container. Chill 3 hours before serving.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There's something about getting up at 5 a.m., feeding the stock and chickens, and milking a couple of cows before breakfast that gives you a lifelong respect for the price of butter and eggs.
Bill Vaughan
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5071. for cows and all they provide
5072. for a sunny day without rain
5073. for memories of happy days on the farm
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
ADVICE FOR TODAY
All I Need to Know about Life I Learned from a Cow
Author unknown
Wake up in a happy mooo-d.
Don’t cry over spilled milk.
The grass is green on the other side of the fence.
Turn the udder cheek and mooo-ve on.
Never stoop to a barnyard mentality.
Seize every opportunity and milk it for all its worth!
It’s better to be seen and not herd.
Honor thy fodder and thy mother and all your udder relatives.
Munch hay while the sun shines.
He who lives with the herd, learns to watch his step.
Never take any bull from anybody.
Black and white is always an appropriate fashion statement.
Don’t forget to cow-nt your blessings every day.
Successful people are moo-vers and shakers.
If you’re feeling low, moo yourself a little song.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

That does look like a nice place to live! We are having burgers tonight with dinner and we'll be watching the wee one, so milk will be involved too :)

Looking at these pictures I want to close my eyes and inhale that sweet green earth!
I pass by a couple large dairy operations every weekday. Sometimes the 'aroma' isn't so pleasant, but it never fails to take me back to happy moments spent at my grandparent's farm.
