ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Today is Stay Out of the Sun Day, which encourages us stay cool in the shade, and to give our skin a rest from the hot, damaging rays of the sun.
The sun is directly over head. We're in the middle of summer, when the temperatures are the hottest, and the sun is the brightest. It's not a bad day to take a break from catching all of those rays and stay out of the sun.
Find some fun and relaxing ways to stay in the shade. A hammock strung behind two shady trees sounds like a great way to go!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.
Jane Austen
It is never a problem for me to stay out of the sun. More than not it’s hard to find a place that is not shady around here. I’m surrounded by trees and I’m not complaining.
We did get some sunshine yesterday and everything has pretty well dried up here for the time being. Truly I was quite surprised how fast it managed to so. It was a beautiful day and today may just be another one!
I have a couple of errands to run today, one of which is to visit our newly remodeled Aldi store. It will be interesting to see what changes have been made.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Eat Beans Day
Beans are grown all over the world. Most people find beans to be very tasty. And that's a good thing, as beans are very good for you.
Beans are healthy and nutritious. Sure, vegetables in general are healthy for you. Beans are among the healthiest. These legumes are a major source of protein and fiber. They contain many other minerals and vitamins, too. They have no fat, and are very low in cholesterol. Diabetics love the low carbs. There are over 40,000 varieties of beans to choose from, and no shortage of recipes.
Baked beans and hot dogs are a good combination and are easy on the budget as well.
Baked Bean and Hot Dog Casserole
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup molasses
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cans, 16 oz. each, baked pork and beans in tomato sauce
6 hot dogs
Mix together onion, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Add beans and stir to blend. Put into a 2 quart casserole and bake at 300 for 1 1/2 hours. Arrange the fronts on the beans and bake for 30 minutes longer.
Add a salad and biscuits or cornbread for a tasty family meal.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago
Warren Buffett
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
5035. for the sun and the shade, we need both
5036. for beans, a great source of protein
5037. for a variety of stores close by making shopping easier
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Almighty and eternal God,
Protect our military
as they discharge their duties
with the shield of your strength,
may the power of your love
enable them to return home in safety
that with all who love them
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT’s
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
Hide not your talents. They for use were made. What’s a sundial in the shade.

We have trees too... lots of them. We had to have some taken down last fall/winter because we had two huge trees fall on the house already, with many not far behind. It was a hazard. That's the only downside to living in the woods.
I love Aldi!! Ours was remodeled a year or so ago. I'm not sure I like the new design but maybe it's simply a matter of old habits dying hard. I'm a creature of habit, 100%. :-)
Blessings~ Andrea xoxo
Does look very green and shady where you are living! Our grocery store is going through a bit of a remodel too. They took out all the house ware section where they had pots, pans, etc., to sell. Wondering what they are going to put in their instead.

Ha! You don't have to ask me twice to stay out of the sun!
I love the looks of those giant shade trees surrounding your home.
I can pretty well 'take or leave' beans, but my DH is convinced they're all evil. I've never seen such a picky fellow where beans are concerned ... except the refried ones he gets, covered with cheese at our favorite Mexican restaurant.
haha...Stay out of the Sun day! Didn't know there was such a thing. However, I think it is "Stay out of the Sun" season down here. lol
We are having hot dogs today and I'm looking forward to it. You know I think Oscar Meyer (might be another one) but they have come out with better hot dogs with no preservatives and such. They are supposed to be better for you. We bought some for today and I'll be anxious to see how they are.
Love your porch and that is a great place to be!
WE love our Aldi. Love their prices and I like to see what they have in their non-food section. Sometimes you get interesting things there. George bought blueberry bushes at Aldi once. lol Have a great 4th!
I have never been a sun worshipper Pam. I tend to prefer the shade! I have always been a huge fan of baked beans. Although they don't always agree with me! Your recipe today looks delicious and like one I would love to try out! Thanks so much for all of your sharings with us. You are a treasure Pam! xoxo
