ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
The moments of our lives may be bright with possibility, dark with fear or sadness, or even plain everyday gray, but God's glory never fades. May God's glory shine into the exciting lights, upsetting darks, and boring grays of your every day.

Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Today is World Ranger Day which is promoted by the 54 member associations of the International Ranger Federation. The first World Ranger Day was observed in 2007 on the 15th anniversary of the founding of the IRF.
This day commemorates rangers killed or injured in the line of duty, and celebrates the work rangers do to protect the world’s natural and cultural treasures. Every day park rangers risk their lives to protect wildlife and habitats from poaching and other threats. They are generally under equipped, underpaid, and because they usually work in remote areas out of the media spotlight, they are often under appreciated.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To sit in the shade on a fine day, and look upon verdure, is the most perfect refreshment.
Jane Austen
Over the years our family visited many parks and we still do. So I’ll definitely give a shout out to all the wonderful Park Rangers. The work they do benefits many others and does a lot to preserve nature and keep the peace too. They are unsung heroes that one rarely hears about.
It is looking like a beautiful start to week here with temps in the lower 80’s and sunshine too. With all the beautiful trees around me I often feel like I’m living in a park. Hopefully I’ll be getting on my bike and getting some much needed exercise this week. This is the perfect place with very little traffic to ride a bike.
I hope you all have a GREAT start to this new week. Happy Monday!
WHAT’S NEW IN THE KITCHEN
There is a food holiday to celebrate every day of the year!
It’s Raspberry Cake Day.
With summer in full swing, it’s hard to imagine anything more seasonal and enjoyable than fresh, juicy raspberries; that is, except for Raspberry Cake Day. It’s a whole day dedicated to enjoying raspberries in cake format!
I’ve made this recipe using strawberries in the past, but it should be just as wonderful using raspberries.
Raspberry Poke Cake
1 box white cake mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for on cake mix box
1 box.4 serving size, raspberry flavored Jello.
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water
1 container, 8 oz, Cool Whip frozen whipped topping, thawed
Fresh raspberries, if desired
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Make and bake cake as directed on box for 13 by 9 inch pan. Cool completely
in pan, about 1 hour.
Pierce cooled cake all over with fork. In small bowl, stir gelatin and boiling water until smooth; stir in cold water. Pour over cake. Run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake. Refrigerate 2 hours. Frost with whipped topping; garnish with raspberries. Store covered in refrigerator.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Life is the gift of nature; beautiful living is the gift of wisdom.

5119. for park rangers, that protect wildlife
5120. for raspberries, in season right now
5121. for more beautiful summer days ahead

they may ever praise you for your loving care.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

I can remember watching a show when I was a child called The Rangers Pam! I love National Parks. They are a great way of preserving our national natural treasures! Love your thoughts on them and that cake recipe is delicious looking! I wish we could get raspberry jello over here! God bless your day! Xoxo
Appreciated the help I have had over the years when we have visited national parks and how the rangers assisted us. Such pretty pictures you shared!

Much I didn't realize about all the accomplishments Rangers do, largely without acclaim.
Sounds as if your new neighborhood is a great fit! When I used to bike -- not very well! -- I was always terrified of traffic.
