Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
April 25th is Sense of Smell Day. Today is a day to build awareness of the role that our noses play in daily life, Your sense of smell helps you enjoy life. You may delight in the aromas of your favorite foods or the fragrance of flowers.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You're only here for a short visit so be sure to stop and smell the flowers .
Walter Hagen
You might be surprised at how important of a role your sense of smell plays in your day to day decisions, emotions, and memories. When you get a whiff of chocolate chip cookies, you may think of baking in your Mom's kitchen. When a warm breeze blows the smell of fresh flowers, you're instantly rocketed back to your first dance and the corsage your date brought.
But aside from their memory inducing powers, certain scents can also do amazing things for our mind and body. From stress relief to headache relief, certain aromas have a way of making an impact
It’s believed that the smell of cinnamon can sharpen your mind and that the scent of pine can relieve stress. A citrus smell can make you feel more energized and vanilla can elevate your mood.
They say, an apple a day keeps the doctor away, and that may be more true when it comes to headaches. Research has suggested that the smell of the crisp fruit may actually help ease a migraine.
It’s hard to believe that this is the last Saturday of April already. May is just around the corner. I’ve put some new decorations up here at my house with thoughts of May in mind. I’m thinking that they’ll do for June and July too. It seems to me that when the weather gets nice outside the days seem to speed by even faster. It’s time for us all to remember to take time to stop and smell the roses.
I hope you all have a super Saturday.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Who will tell whether one happy moment of love or the joy of breathing or walking on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air, is not worth all the suffering and effort which life implies.
Erich Fromm
Counting at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for. There is truly is always something to be thankful for.
2703. for scents that help us
2704. for my nose, it still works
2705. for my good cup of coffee that always smells good
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
ADVICE FOR TODAY
In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.
Margaret Atwood
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

That is interesting about the different scents actually being good to sharpen one's mind or relieve stress, etc. I know when I used to walk Koda and I would walk by someone's house and you could smell bacon cooking or a coffee cake, it surely made me want to get home quickly to have breakfast :)

I LOVE this post!
... and had quite forgotten when aroma-therapy was all the rage.
Now, methinks I need to gather some cinnamon and pine essential oils for my desktop at work! :)
I agree. Certain scents bring back memories of my grandma's kitchen, too.
I love the smell of a fresh rain...so clean.
Great post!
Have a super Saturday!

I need to decorate for Memorial Day, thanks for the reminder! Now I'm going to go exercise my sense of smell and make some peanut butter cookies!
