TGIGF: Thank Goodness It's Good Friday! Good Friday is a time to reflect on and remember the goodness of God toward us: Christ suffered that we might have salvation! And that’s a good word to pass along. For Christians, this weekend is a celebration of the most integral part of our faith, the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. On Good Friday, the we fix our thoughts on the Cross at Calvary.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
It's Good Friday. Good because 2000 years ago the events of today prove that we matter to God.

Good Friday is a good day. In fact I think every day is a good day to have a good day. To many people, Good Friday is a black day, a day of mourning and sorrow. But we can keep the spirit of the day without becoming heavy or sad in our thought. Surely, Good Friday has importance to us because the Spirit that brought Jesus through His hour of darkness is in us too, that there is in us a Spirit that is from God, a Spirit that stands calm and unafraid, a Spirit that is utterly loving, a Spirit that cannot be other than forgiving.
Someone asks 'Why do we call it good?’
The Man who died never did anything wrong.
That was GOOD
As the sacrificial Passover Lamb the Man was perfect , without blemish.
That was GOOD
The Man willingly gave His life to save others.
That was GOOD
The Man even as He hung on the cross spoke comforting words to sinners ...
Father, forgive them... and ...
Today you will be with Me in paradise..
That was GOOD
His Father in heaven was watching ...
He knew Sunday was coming and it would reveal God's ancient plan.
and He said... It is GOOD!
The gifts of Good Friday are compassion and mercy. If you take the time to think about it, whenever we practice patience, cheerfully bearing with somebody who is irritable, or enduring discomfort rather than imposing it on others, in a small way we are embracing the principle of the Passion of our Lord. Each of us can bear a little self denial, and with practice, our shoulders can grow broad enough to carry some of the burden of those we love.
Hot Cross Buns have become a tradition here at my house on Good Friday. I’m pretty sure that I’ve shared this very easy recipe before, but in case you missed it. Here it is again
Crescent Hot Cross Buns
1 can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1/3 cup raisins
1/4 teaspoon grated lemon peel, if desired
Icing
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 to 2 teaspoons milk
Heat oven to 375°F. Unroll dough and separate into 8 triangles. In small bowl, mix raisins and lemon peel; spoon about 1 teaspoon raisin mixture onto short side of each triangle. Gently wrap corners of dough over filling and roll to opposite point; pinch to seal. Place point side down on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet; place on wire rack. Cool 10 minutes. In small bowl, mix powdered sugar and enough milk until smooth and drizzling consistency. With spoon, drizzle icing in cross shape on top of each bun.
I hope you all have a GOOD day and a fantastic Friday !

Good Friday dawned rainy and cold here in NE Kansas, but it should be okay by the time we are in church at 4. I hope you have a "good" Good Friday.
Those buns look good! Again I'm reading your blog and I haven't had breakfast :)
If we didn't have Good Friday, we wouldn't have Easter Sunday. I'm glad Jesus was willing to die for my sins and reconcile us back to God. I'm looking forward to going to our church's Good Friday service tonight.
betty
I'm like you Pam, I see Good Friday for the wonderful gift that it is! Praise God! It was cold and rainy here, but Easter Weekend in the UK is often a mixed bag of blah weather. God bless you. Thank you so much for all that you share. You are a treasure of positivity. Love you to bits! xoxo
