Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
June 11th is one of the upcoming Ember Days celebrated on June 11, 13, and 14. Then comes the ones on September 17, 19, and 20. The Old Farmers’s Almanac traditionally marks the four periods formerly observed by the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches for prayer, fasting, and the ordination of clergy. Folklore has it that the weather on each of the three days foretells the weather for three successive months; for example, in the case of September's Ember Days: Wednesday, September 17, forecasts the weather for October; Friday, September 19, for November; and Saturday, September 20, for December.
My daily search of holidays came up with only one other holiday for today and that was Corn on the Cob Day. So today I’ll be taking note of the weather along with Friday, June 13th, and Saturday June 14th and will see if what we have is what we’ll be getting in July, August and September. It will be interesting to see if the folk lore is true. Not forgetting that some corn on the cob sounds very good too. We had some this past Sunday and it was delicious!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
A dripping June brings all things in tune.
The weather today says we have a 80% chance of scattered thunderstorms with temps reaching 80 degrees. This makes me wonder now if July will be a stormy month here. We’ll see…
The more rain, the more rest; fair weather’s not always best.
Folk lore tales have managed to survive over the decades because they often ring true. One thing I know maybe two is that we will always have weather and all the predictions and folk lore cannot determine exactly what will happen. There is always an unexpected change when it comes to the weather.
We had a very wet May and so far this June we’ve had plenty of rain too. My good neighbors down the street were selling the little playhouse and slide in today’s pictures, so for 20 dollars I was able to get some wonderful hours of fun in the sun for my grand babes. I was hoping that they could enjoy them this past Sunday, but it rained and when it did clear up it was to wet for them to go out and enjoy it. But then summer will just be beginning soon, so hopefully they will have more sunny days ahead to enjoy them!
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday !
Rain before seven, quit by eleven.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Whether it’s cold or whether it’s hot; We shall have weather, whether or not!
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1700 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1751. for our weathermen, who warn us when storms approach
1752. for neighbors who have sales, their trash became my treasure
1753. for a rainy day, more time for me to spend on the porch
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
If June be sunny, harvest comes early.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

Yep, I can see your young grandchildren enjoying that play house and slide, Ma! I hope the weather clears a bit for them to be able to do so. That was interesting with the Ember Days; hadn't heard of that before and with the weather predictions too with it. It will be interesting if you do keep track of the weather to see if the folklore is true about it.

How fun is that slide!! We saw a few days of 100's, but now only 90's in the forecast... We've had corn on the cob twice already this year and it was very good both times... :)
Loving the play house and slide Pam! Kids love those types of things! The corn on the cob over here is just terrible. They always husk it and sell it husked. Anyone knows that as soon as you pick corn it begins to lose it's flavour and husked corn loses it even quicker. Frozen corn tastes a lot better here. I miss good corn! xxoo
