Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
June 19th is World Sauntering Day, an ideal occasion for taking a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood, the park, a public garden or a shopping mall. Swaggering and strutting are the orders of the day. Hurried marching can wait till tomorrow. The purpose is to remind us to take it easy, smell the roses, to slow down and enjoy life as opposed to rushing through it.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Why walk when you can saunter?
Henry David Thoreau
Sorry I’m late with my post today as I’ve been without electricity due to a storm yesterday evening. My power just camp back about a half hour ago now. I am definitely a saunterer. I don’t walk fast at all anymore. Sauntering is a verb describing a style of walking; it is not a sashay, prance, trot, or lollygag. It is simply to walk slowly, preferably with a joyful disposition. Sauntering has been spoken of most notably by many of the naturalist writers in history including Henry David Thoreau.
You can spend your life walking through life, jogging through life, or being dragged through life. But, life is far more enjoyable, if you saunter through it. The dictionary defines sauntering as walking along slowly, happily and aimlessly. You’re just enjoying where you are with a nice luxurious stroll.
One of the key factors reported to create happiness is slowing down to savor our food, listen to the sounds around us, and appreciate the beauty of nature. The pictures today are of what is blooming here in my yard right now.
I hope you all have a great Thursday! Be Happy !
PRAYER REQUEST
The friend who’s son and DIL’ s sister that we have recently been praying for wrote saying: Just wanted to let you know that my Daughter-in-law's sister has been diagnosed withOvarian Cancer and it is stage #4. I think I told you it was Uterine Cancer. She will still have to start Chemo. next wk., but prayers will be needed.......as this is really serious. Thanks for sending the word out.
As for my son, the procedure didn't work, so now they are talking surgery. I will keep you updated on that. Like you have said.......life is like a roller coaster......many 'ups and downs'. Prayers will get us through this.
God Bless.....
COUNTING MY GIFTS
To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter ... to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring--- these are some of the rewards of the simple life.
John Burroughs
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1700 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1775. for a saunter around the yard looking to see what's blooming now
1776. for my a/c, it is still working and feels really good right now
1777. for a visit with the girls on Tuesday, our sweet sugar AB and our Cutie Patootie, they are here again today.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I like that idea of sauntering through life, Ma; that was a great definition of it, especially to walk happily through it. I'm sure that had to be a bad storm to have the electricity go out!
betty
I am so sorry to hear about your DIL's friend. Ovarian Cancer is very serious. I will keep her in my deepest prayers.
