Life is a Special Occasion!

With the official start of summer just a few days away, June 10th, is the perfect time for National Iced Tea Day.
Chances are, it is already hot in your area. Today may serve as a good reminder to make and enjoy your first of many Iced Tea drinks of the season. Have it plain, add a little lemon, or sweeten it with sugar. Iced Tea is certainly a favorite summer cooler of millions of Americans. And best of all, tea is good for your health!
It takes no imagination to decide how to enjoy this great day: Grab an Iced Tea and head out to the hammock strung under a shady tree.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you are cold, tea will warm you; if you are too heated, it will cool you; if you are depressed, it will cheer you; if you are excited it will calm you.
William Ewart Gladstone
Iced tea is one of my favorite beverages and I drink it all year long not just in the summertime. It’s really hard to believe, even though it does feel like it, that summer is almost here. The time has flown by since the warmer days have appeared. Winter seemed to take for ever going away, but Spring is speeding by.
I’ve already enjoyed some nice days on the porch and also on the patio. I’ve had my glass of iced tea right there beside me too. I’m a coffee lover in the morning but often switch to tea or lemonade the rest of the day. In the winter it may be hot tea at times, it does take the chill off. I don’t drink a lot of water, but I always have something to drink nearby. I like to think I keep well hydrated anyway.
Not only is Iced Tea refreshing on a hot summer’s day, it’s also got some great health benefits and there are lots of different flavors to enjoy. Iced Tea Day is a great excuse to enjoy this refreshing beverage! Don’t be afraid to add some lemon or sugar to taste, or even ginger to help a sore throat. It just so happens that ginger is packed with properties that will chase away the pain. It works brilliantly as a cold remedy as well, and colds and sore throats often go hand in hand. Add crushed ginger and a spoonful of honey while the tea is hot. If your throat is sore for more than 5 days, you should see a doctor.
I often enjoy a cup Chai Latte which comes in a K cup and one of the spices in it is ginger. So... I’m thinking that since it is warming up outside I should try it over ice today. Thankfully I do not have a sore throat nor a cold. There are going to be many good cups or glasses of tea to savor in the days ahead. I am so looking forward to the crazy lazy days of summer.
Remember: It is important to remember to drink more liquids when the temps heat up.
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!

I receive a note from my friend who’s dear ones we were praying for last week and since I don’t always get a follow up on a prayer request I thought I’d share what she had to say:
Thank you and all that prayed for my son. He seems to be doing much better, but the Drs. will have to keep watch on the Spine. There was no Cancer or nerve damage. Thank God. Thank you for the prayers for my daughter-in-laws sister. She had the surgery......and there was Cancer ....... but, even tho the Dr. feels that they got it all, she will have to have Chemo. Please keep both in your prayers.
Thank You & God Bless
COUNTING MY GIFTS
There is no need to have any special attitude while drinking except one of thankfulness. The nature of the tea itself is that of no-mind.

I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1700 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
Iced tea is too pure and natural a creation not to have been invented as soon as tea, ice, and hot weather crossed paths.

Happy Tuesday! :)
Thanks for the prayer updates, Ma.
Hubby and son drink a lot of iced tea. I tend to avoid it since it has caffeine in it and if I drink caffeine after 12 noon, I can't sleep that night. They do make their own with tea bags like I think I might have said before. I'll have to tell them the tip about the ginger though; that I didn't know!

It's getting hotter here in our part of the country and ice tea is a favorite drink. Great post Ma, as always. Jean
