Life is a Special Occasion!

June 5th is Hot Air Balloon Day. The hot air balloon is the oldest form of flight technology used for carrying humans, following the first manned flight in 1783.
The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious. And why shouldn't it be? - it is the same the angels breathe.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Today I’m remembering a precious little grandson, such a delight, so vibrant, so treasured. We lost him several years ago now from SIDS. He was such a happy little boy and my nickname for him is Our Pumpkin’ . I only have some very happy memories when I think about him and I know that he is smiling down on us from heaven as we remember his birthday today.
My thoughts and prayers go out to DS#3 and his family today as I know how much they miss him. I’m thinking that it’s a good day to blow up a balloon in remembrance of this little one. I know there is no hot air ballooning in sight for me but a balloon certainly is possible.
You all know I’m a saver and the cute little balloon shown above is from when my children were small. It features a blue Smurf in the basket. Sometimes, not often, I am glad I keep things. I do have way too much stuff stored away, but they do bring back some delightful memories.
One thing I know, maybe two is that we should never take for granted those we love and we need to tell them just how much we love them every chance we get as we never know when the next chance to do that may be.
I do love you all!
I hope you all have a great day! Happy Thursday!!!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Those we love don't go away, they stay beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still missed, still loved, still very dear.
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1700 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1733. for our little Pumkin’, so fondly remembered on his birthday today
1734. for a balloon that brings back some happy memories
1735. for another chance to say I love you!
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Remember this: the people you have lost will always be near you. Just look up at the sky one night and see all those big bright shiny stars? Pick one and use it as a memory of them. The poem below is about the loss of a child, but it could also be for any of those we’ve loved and lost.
There’s a special place beyond the clouds,
Where golden rivers flow,
A place where sadness never dwells,
And warmth and sunshine glow.
Amidst the clouds, celestial beings,
With wings and halo’s bright,
Flutter softly through the air,
In divine eternal light.
This place it knows, no sorrow,
And tears here never fall,
For in the presence of the Lord,
Great love is felt by all.
And in this wondrous paradise,
Beyond the starlit sky
The smallest of the angels,
Is learning how to fly.
She carefully lifts her feathered wings,
And holds her head up high,
She soars throughout the universe,
With confidence and pride.
Yet this tiny, pure, angelic child,
Has one thing she must do.
She searches out the brightest star,
To send back down to you.
There is no greater loss in life,
Than those who’ve lost their child,
Yet tiny angels only fly,
When they see their parents smile.
So when you look up to the sky,
And see a falling star,
Just know the child you grieve so much,
Is never all that far.

A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

Remembering your lil pumpkin and sending gentle hugs......
A special Happy Birthday...... :)
I remember you writing about your family's loss when it happened, Ma. I am sorry for it; I was just thinking about him for some reason the other day. I think honoring his memory with a balloon released is a wonderful thing to do.
