Today is Flip a Coin Day. A day when making decisions is as easy as flipping a coin. This tradition dates back to Julius Caesar. Caesar would take a coin and flip it to make decisions where the right choice was unclear. The correct answer was heads, which of course carried his image on the coin.
It's time to flip a coin to decide if you are going to celebrate Flip a Coin Day.
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When one bases his life on principle, 99 percent of his decisions are already made.
Author Unknown
I sometimes wish that all the decisions I had to make were as easy as flipping a coin. Anymore when I have a tough decision to make, I pray about it. Seems the best way to go for me.
They say that when you have a decision to make you should follow these steps:
Often, your very first impressions reveal your true preferences. Trust your instincts.
Choose friends, relatives, or coworkers who know you well and who can give unbiased recommendations. Establish a circle of trust.
Take your time. If you’re presented with a decision that throws you for a loop ask for some time to consider the situation,
Refine your options. Beware of making a decision with only one option. List your alternatives. Write down every option you have for the decision you’re making, get it out of your head and spend some quality time on each one.
And last but not least…when in doubt pray! Big decisions require big prayers,
Remember this: an important key to making wise decisions is CONSEQUENCES! Every single decision you have ever made, or will ever make, has consequences.
This prayer is one of the most famous prayers in the world, and for good reason; it tells about the complexity of the decision making process. Written by the theologian Reinhold Neibuhr in 1943, the prayer is often paraphrased as
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference
For the lack of something new to show you, the pictures today are of some fresh veggies. Very soon those road side fruit and vegetable stands will be open and I can hardly wait. About the only coins I’ll be flipping today will be a Carrot Coin Salad.
2 lb. fresh carrots, cook, drain and cool
Then mix together:
1 c. tomato soup
3/4 c. vinegar
1/2 or 3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. salad oil
1 tsp. dry mustard
Add onion and green pepper to taste. Pour mixture over carrots and let stand overnight. YUMMY!
I hope you all have restful and relaxing Sunday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Life is the sum of all your choices.
Albert Camus
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1700 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1721. for prayer, it always works
1722. for a coin or two in my pocket
1723. for Sundays that always renew my spirit and my soul
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Those were great pictures of the veggies, Ma, and thanks for the recipe on the carrot salad. I've never made one before, but might make this; sounds yummy.
So agree with what you said about making decisions, especially the part about prayer.
Our pastor just began a series of sermons today about making life decisions and he said to follow something similar in:
1. Thinking who Jesus is and what would he do. (so obviously if we are deciding to do something and it would not be what Jesus would do we should't do it.)
2. Look what the Bible might say about it (for instance, thinking of buying a new car, do you go with fancy when simpler would just be as good, Bible always emphasizes humble).
3. Listen to that inner quiet voice of God talking to you and what is your conscience saying about it.
I thought that was wise advise too along with yours.
I know it is always good to sleep on making a decision, i.e., allowing time to ponder it.

I loved all of your thoughts here today Pam. I would never make any decision based on the flip of a coin! Like you, I try to pray about things first and listen to the still small voice. That carrot salad sounds delicious! I think I have had it before, but it was called Copper Pennies. In any case it was wonderful! xxoo
