Life is a Special Occasion!
Hallmark
Each year on the first Saturday in June it is National Trails Day. On this day, there are events held throughout the United States to help promote awareness of the wide variety of benefits that trails provide, to encourage people to discover their local trails, to raise awareness of trail issues and to instill excitement for the outdoors.
Today we also want to thank the many volunteers, land agencies, trail developers, park employees, rangers and all other for their help in developing and maintaining the trails.
HAPPY TRAILS!
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I used to love hiking the trails in our local Metro Parks. They had a hiking stick program and you received a badge to put on your stick when you completed the hikes they had scheduled. I’m really not able to do all those hikes any more, but I do love getting out when I can. The nice thing is that now they are more accessible and even those with wheelchairs and walkers are seen on the paths. Many of them are paved. It used to be we’d rough it more than not. I’m thankfully not at that stage yet, but I sure do move slowly these days.
Moving slowly isn’t a bad thing at all and I appreciated life in the slow lane. It gives you the opportunity to see more than when you are living in the fast lane. Life speeds by at such a hectic pace that slowing down is something I’d advise everyone to do.
Last year I was blessed to visit two of our local parks. One time was for a birthday party as they do have shelters there available for rent and the other time was for a Labor Day picnic. Those times are what is pictured in my post today.
When my family was young we spent many happy days at the parks here and many all around Ohio too. We had a popup camper at the time and the State Parks system provides many great campgrounds.
It looks like any hiking I’ll be doing today will be to the grocery store. I hope you all have a super Saturday and if you can get out and enjoy the great outdoors!
Please note: Yesterday’s recipe for Mac Salad said 4 c of mayo…It should be corrected to say 4 Tablespoons. Sorry about that. Thanks to my next door sister who saw it and questioned that amount.

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Walk on a rainbow trail; walk on a trail of song, and all about you will be beauty. There is a way out of every dark mist, over a rainbow trail.
Edward A. Navajo
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached over 1700 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1739. for life in the slow lane which enables us to see a lot more

Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It’s the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here’s a happy one for you.

Hubby and I are always looking for new trails to hike...
I'm off to work today...
Happy Saturday!! :)
I like the idea of getting a badge to put on your walking sticker at your Metro Parks, Ma. Good encouragement for those that can do the trails to get out and do them.
We have less walking trails here then we did at other places we lived, probably because its an older community.
