June 27th is Sunglasses Day. It is a shady day for your eyes. Summer is in full swing. The sun is high in the sky. It's blindingly bright. A pair of UV protection sunglasses is definitely in order. Enjoy Sunglasses Day with a shady, mysterious and fashionable pair of sunglasses!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
To sit in the shade on a fine day, and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.
Jane Austin
My eyes are becoming more and more sensitive to the sun. I really need sun glasses on these days when the sunshine does come out. I’ve also got a patio umbrella to sit under that gives some much needed shade and if I’m working in the yard I usually put my straw hat on that provides a little shade for my eyes too.
I remember well when sunglasses were called shades. It was fashionable at one time for the guys to carry their shades in their tee shirt pockets. Many gals wore their sunglasses propped up on their hair like a headband too. Some still do. I have to wear glasses all the time now and the glasses I have turn dark when when I go outside. I don’t have to change glasses. The only problem with them is the fact that when you come back inside it takes awhile for the dark to go away. How times have changed.
They now have sunglasses for children too and we often forget that those young eyes need shade too. It used to be popular for babies to wear bonnets that had a brim on them to shade the little ones eyes. Hats with a brim on them are still a good idea. A baseball cap would work fine too! Today is a reminder that we all need some shades of some sort. Our eyes are a valuable gift that need to be pampered.
Today’s pictures are some of my family with their shades on last summer. I did a little search of my photos and these are the only ones I could find where sunglasses were on, the others had some with and some without.
I’ll probably be enjoying the shade out on the porch today at some point or another. I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.
Nelson Henderson
I have counted at least 3 things every day that I'm thankful for over a year and have now reached just over 1800 gifts. On my way to 2000. I'm not stopping, but will continue on counting. There is always, always something to be thankful for.
1799. for shade trees, umbrellas and sun glasses
1800. for my eyes that still see pretty clearly
1801. for summer fun in the sun
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their

Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.

selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Don't smother each other. No one can grow in the shade.

A bit of love from someone dear…

Isn't it good to need sunglasses these summer days! I often forget mine and wish I hadn't.
Happy Sunglasses Day and Happy Friday!! :)
My lens are like yours, Ma, in that they go to darker when I go outside; and you are right it takes a minute to adjust when going back inside. I remember walking from outside to an inner type tunnel where our church meets at a high school and having to wait a minute to be able to see. It is good though to take care of our eyes with wearing sun glasses for sure!
