87 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
91 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunrise:7:19 am
Sunset: 7:20 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
On this day in 1918, Franklin County native Eddie Rickenbacker earned the Medal of Honor. He was a WWI flying ace. His decorations included nine Distinguished Service Crosses.
We do not remember days; we remember moments.
Cesare Pavese
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday.
Pearl Buck
The reason things happen they way they do is often based on something from the past. We learn about history, so we can attempt to make the present and future a better place to live. By learning about our past we can make better choices and not make the same mistakes twice.
Maybe we don't learn those lessons well enough at times, but I think that we do learn. I've had to learn some things over and over, but eventually they do sink in.
Good things come to those who still hope even though they’ve had disappointments, to those who still believe even though they’ve failed, to those who still love even though they’ve been hurt. So never regret anything that has happened in your life; it cannot be changed, undone or forgotten. Take it all as lessons learned and move on . By learning about the past we learn our future.
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
Lessons For Life
Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
Memorize your favorite poem.
Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
When you say, I love you, mean it.
When you say, I'm sorry, look the person in the eye.
Believe in love at first sight.
Never laugh at anyone's dreams.
Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
Don't judge people by their relatives.
Talk slow but think quick.
Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
Say bless you when you hear someone sneeze.
When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; Responsibility for all your actions.
Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
Spend some time alone.
Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Read more books and watch less TV.
Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll get to enjoy it a second time.
Trust in God but lock your car.
A loving atmosphere in your home is so important. Do all you can to create a tranquil harmonious home.
In disagreements with loved ones, deal with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
Read between the lines.
Be gentle with the earth.
Pray. There's immeasurable power in it.
Never interrupt when you are being flattered.
Mind your own business.
Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
If you make a lot of money, put it to use helping others while you are living. That is wealth's greatest satisfaction.
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a stroke of luck
Learn the rules then break some.
Remember that the best relationship is one where your love for each other is greater than your need for each other.
Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
Remember that your character is your destiny.
Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon. That's the FUN part!

COUNTING MY GIFTS
Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are,
the things you never want to lose.
From the television show The Wonder Years
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
980. for good memories
981. for lessons learned
982. for my pumpkin spice coffee this morning.
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
There are exactly as many special occasions in life as we choose to celebrate.
Robert Brault
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

MA, this was one of your best, I think. Thank you so much for the reminders.
Another good poem with Lessons for Life. So true about learning from our past, both the good times and bad times hold lessons that will help us along the way of our days. Totally agree!
betty
