11 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise:7:04 am
Sunset: 7:46 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Perry's Memorial, PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio
On this day in 1813, Oliver Hazard Perry, won the Battle of Lake Erie. We have met the enemy and they are ours. . . ." So wrote Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry to General William Henry Harrison following his decisive victory over a British fleet at the Battle of Lake Erie. Perry's victory served as a catalyst both for this battle and for ending hostilities in the Old Northwest Theater of the War of 1812.
Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial was established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, during the War of 1812, and to celebrate the long-lasting peace between Britain, Canada and the U.S.
Don't give up the ship!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We didn't all come over on the same ship, but we're all in the same boat.
Bernard M. Baruch
I've had the pleasure of visiting the shores Lake Erie many times and have been to Put-in Bay and gone to the top of Perry's Monument. It is an amazing view.
I do wonder though, in the grand scheme of things, isn't there a better way to make peace than to fight a war. In all of history, war as been the determining factor. Couldn't we just for once, take the time to negotiate peace through words instead.
For me, all this talk of yet another war is disheartening to say the least. Please join me as I continue to pray for peace in our world.
On the bright side of things, I have to say that I have had some very peace filled days here around my house.
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
You don’t even miss a beat when gratitude to God is the beat of your heart.
Anne Voskamp
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
935. for peace and friendship between nations and people
936. for Lake Erie, not so far from home
937. for kind words full of love for each other
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
There are big ships and small ships. But the best ship of all is friendship.

A bit of love from someone dear…

I love the saying you posted - "We didn't all come over on the same ship, but we're all in the same boat." I will have to remember this one. Truer words were never spoken. Have a very blessed day.
That IS a great saying "the same boat".... but I can't help but count down with you on these 100 degree days... 11 DAYS UNTIL FALL!!!!
I do think it would be neat if differences could be resolved without wars; it is sad that throughout history that has seemed to be the "proven" way to get things settled; doesn't seem quite right inded.
I am enjoying reading your Ohio history you are sharing here, Ma.
