OHIO HISTORY

On September 6th, 1819, William Starke Rosecrans, a major general in the Civil War was born in Deleware County, Ohio. In June of 1864 he was offered the vice presidential spot in President Abraham Lincoln's bid for re-election but failed to seize the opportunity.  The next year he refused the nomination for the same office.  As a result he is remembered as the Great Decliner.  He did serve as an ambassador to Mexico and also as Register of the U.S. Treasury.  

To succeed, jump as quickly at opportunities as you do at conclusions.

They say that opportunity only knocks once, but I've found that sometimes in life you do get second chances.  Sometimes we walk away from a situation frustrated because we realize we just missed an opportunity.  If we wait for opportunities to happen, we sometimes have a long wait, but we can be ready to take advantage of them when they come.

This summer I've had quite a few opportunities to travel a bit around our lovely state and I'm very glad I took advantage of the opportunity.  Today's pictures are of the Historical Roscoe Village.  It is one of the places that grew in size due to the canal system in our state.  

We missed the historical tour due to the long tour we took at the Zoar Village earlier that day but did get to visit a few shops and get some well needed exercise after being in the car so much that day.

I know there will be more opportunities headed my way to see more and more wonderful places around and about, but one thing I'll not be forgetting…there is no place like home either.
