3 DAYS UNTIL FALL
98 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunrise:7:11 am
Sunset: 7:32 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
On this day in 1795, Ephraim Cutler, who would become common pleas judge of the Northwest Territory and a member of the state Constitutional Convention, arrived with his family in Marietta, Ohio.
If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you think you have it tough, read history books.
Bill Maher
It's hard to imagine that at one time Ohio was part of what was known as the Northwest Territory. The territory included all the land of the United States west of Pennsylvania and northwest of the Ohio River. It covered all of the modern states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, as well as the northeastern part of Minnesota. Now a days we think of the northwest as being states like Washington and Oregon. Looking back at times gone by makes me appreciate more and more what I have and know today.
Marietta has always held a special place in my heart as it was there that we'd cross the beautiful Ohio river when we go to visit with my grandparents in West Virginia when I was a young girl. I'd hoped to visit there this year, but things didn't quite work out for that trip.
I've learned that although our past has played an important part in who and what we are, it is today that is truly important. Living each day by doing the best we can with what we've got is the best way to live. Letting go of those things that tend to pull us down and looking for the bright side in every situation is one way to have a good day every day.
Remember there that although every day may not be good, there is something good in every day.
The pictures today are of DS#6 and his son one day this summer when they visited the river that is close by where they live. What a fun they had!
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
History, as long as it continues to happen, is always another chance.
R. Jackson Wilson
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
959. for those venturing into new territories
960. for our history, still in the making
961. for the lessons of the past making a better future
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
A nation that forgets its past can function no better than an individual with amnesia.
David McCullough
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…

MA, I'm back, and feel better today now that I have read you. Of course, seeing that there are 96 days until Christmas has struck fear in my heart!
That does look like fun at the river! Something about water always makes the adventure more interesting I do think.

Even scarier thinking then 98 days til Christmas is that Christmas day is 14 weeks from today... Happy Wednesday! :)
I believe in finding the good in each day Pam, even if it isn't always easy! I love history. We studied a lot of American History in school, I suppose because it was somewhat intertwined with our own. I often think of the pioneers travelling West into the unknown and how scary that must have been. I am not sure I would have been able to do what they did. I guess that is why I wasn't born then! I doubt I had the fortitude! I am perfect for now. :-)
