88 DAYS UNTIL WINTER
92 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
Sunrise:7:18 am
Sunset: 7:22 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
It was on this date in 1837 that Marcus Alonzo Hanna was born in Libson, Ohio, the county seat of Columbiana County. He became the chairman of the Republican National Committee in 1896 and was manager of William McKinely's campaign for President. He was perhaps the first to use polls to gauge the sentiments of voters.
We live by our imagination, our admirations, and our sentiments.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If in the last few years you haven't discarded a major opinion or acquired a new one, check your pulse. You may be dead.
Gelett Burgess
I'm not a follower of polls that are taken. After all polls are made up of just a few people. I don't think that we can never know the true sentiments or feelings that people have until we get the whole picture.
People change and opinions change. When ever I make a decision, I try to look at the whole picture and to hear both sides of the story if necessary.
This summer, when we were traveling the Lincoln Highway, I had the opportunity to go through Libson, Ohio and Columbiana County is one that I can check off on my list of counties to visit in Ohio. Little did I know that it was the birthplace of someone famous.
I'm thankful I've had the opportunity to visit historical places and read about famous people here in my home state, it has given me an appreciation of where I live.
Tonight I'll be getting together with a couple of my friends to play the dulcimer. This is the last month we'll be playing our regular tunes which are for the most part folk songs, they tell a lot about our history too. We'll start playing Christmas songs in October as we only meet once a month and there are so many of them.
It's a chilly morning here at 38 degrees. They say it will warm up to 68 for a high today, but right now, the furnace is running for the first time here at my house and my good cup of hot coffee is tasting better than ever.
I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!
FYI - I had to adjust my countdown on the days until winter and Christmas, hopefully I've got it right now. I was just a day or two off so hope I didn't confuse you all.
COUNTING MY GIFTS
Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it .
William Arthur Ward
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
977. for the opinions of others that help me to make my decisions
978. for the many men and women that work for what they believe in
979. for discoveries that broaden our own horizons
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Never apologize for showing feeling. When you do so, you apologize for the truth.
Benjamin Disraeli
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I didn't know you played the dulcimer, Ma; neat! Good too that you have a group of friends you can get together with to enjoy making music with. Brrr on the 38 degrees! I'm hoping our furnace won't have to go on until November, but you never know.
enjoy Tuesday!
