94 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS

If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
Educator William Homes McGuffey, best known for his reading textbooks, was born on September 23rd in 1800. His family moved from Pennsylvania to Coitsville Township, in Trumbull County, Ohio when he was two years old. His textbooks were used in schools for 75 years and are still used in some with annual sales amounting to about 30,000 copies. While intending to develop the reading skills of children, the books stressed ideal character traits such as working hard and being thrifty as well as religious moral themes.
Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life.
Mortimer J. Adler
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I read my eyes out and cant read half enough. The more one reads the more one sees we have to read.
John Adams
Reading is definitely one of my favorite things to do and has been ever since I learned to read. There's never a day goes by but that I read something. I can remember sitting in a circle with my classmates and learning how to read. We would repeat the words in a sentence and look at the pictures on each page and after quite some time we could read the whole book.
See Dick run. See Jane run. Sally, Dick, Jane, Puff, Tim and Spot, Mother and Father. I remember the adorable children and pets well. Those were magical days. I think that teachers must have a great feeling of accomplishment when a student grasps the concept of reading.
Reading is one thing we must be able to do in order to learn most anything. Because I can read and write, I can also make my lists so that I can remember what I need to do and as you can see, I've a bucket list of things that are fun to do in the fall. I may not do all of them, but fall is wonderful time of year with lots to see and do.
Hope you all have a restful and relaxing Sunday and maybe take some time out to read a good book!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
A book is a gift you can open again and again.
Garrison Keillor
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
971. for teachers
972. for authors of books for children
973. for books that never fail to educate and entertain
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU !
There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates’ loot on Treasure Island... and the best of all, you can enjoy these riches every day of your life.
Walt Disney
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone dear…
Love,
ma

I definitely am going to take time out to read a book this afternoon, Ma (and then sneak in a nap). I like the bucket list of fall activities; I hope you get to do the majority that are on your list. Amazing it is fall already!
I too enjoy reading and am making sure I have plenty of books around to at least spend a few minutes daily reading a good one; it is so relaxing to do.

I am like you!! I read every.single.day! I read a quote once about never being lonely when you have a good book. SO true!!
You know I love to read! I remember Dick and Jane... and the color coded reading cards that as you completed each section you would go to the next level... Happy First Day of Autumn!! :)
I remember reading Dick and Jane and see Spot see Spot run. This post brings back memories. I've been reading more the past few weeks and I bought the Nook book about Si of the Duck Dynesty. It sounds like it might be fun to read.
