6 DAYS UNTIL FALL
Sunrise:7:07 am
Sunset: 7:36 pm
If you can't see the Bright Side, polish the dull side
President William Howard Taft was born on this day in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1857. Elected 27th President in 1908, it is said that he often complained that he had too busy for his afternoon nap and had to hurry through his meals. Food was important to him. He was known as Big Bill Taft. He was 6 foot 4inches tall and weighed in at 300 pounds.
Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I've been attending lots of seminars in my retirement. They're called naps.
Merri Brownworth
I do love my naps and rarely a day goes by now that I don't have one. It's a shame I had to wait for retirement in order to enjoy them. I know from all the years that I worked that a nap would have definitely been appreciated around 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
Some call them power naps and others call them cat naps. A nap for even 15 minutes after work in the evening will help you get through the rest of the day. I remember well when my dad would fall asleep reading the evening paper and said he was just resting his eyes.
In our part of the country, evening papers are a thing of the past. We only get a morning edition now, but naps are still possible, especially if you need to rest your eyes after a long day at work.
The pictures today are of some of the fall decorations that are starting to appear around my house. There will be more coming as the weeks go by.
Sunday is the perfect day for a nap. Hope you all enjoy plenty of that good R&R today!
COUNTING MY GIFTS
No day is so bad it can't be fixed with a nap.
Carrie Snow
I am trying to count at least 3 things I'm thankful for each day and then in 1 year's time I'll have counted 1000 gifts. I’ll be sharing them and giving thanks to God for these gifts each day.
950. for naps, they do refresh and renew
951. for our Ohio Presidents
952. for Sundays, a day to rest
Enter into His courts with thanksgiving — and in His presence is fullness of Joy!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
It's better to crash into a nap than to nap into a crash.

Cute fall decorations, Ma. I'm with you about naps and I do feel a bit sleepy around 3 p.m. most work afternoons (that was when I would grab a Diet Coke for the caffeine, LOL, but gave them up when we moved down here 2 years ago). I do enjoy my Sunday afternoon naps; due to schedule changes I don't get them as often as I do but at least lying down and closing my eyes relaxful.
So true about newspapers; I dare to say down the road a lot of them will all go electronic and paper boys/girls will be a thing of the past.
betty
I often need a nap around 3:00 but end up drinking hot tea to stay awake! lol no napping at work! lol
So so true about naps, MA!! I think the folks in our country would have less stress, less tension, less arguments, less drama... if everybody took a nap at some point during the day.
We don't have an evening paper either & I miss it. Hearing the newspaper arrive at 2am (we're on a motor route, being in the county) & then reading it at 7am just seemed like it was "old news" already. So I stopped taking the paper. I just get my news online these days... but even so, it's just NOT the same. I miss the good ole days!
Love~ Andrea
XOXOXO
I was just commenting about naps in another blog I was reading... I don't do naps as just something about sleeping when the sun is up, I might miss something... I have read that you only need a 15minute nap, anything longer will just make you more groggy... with my dad, it was the tv... he would be snoring away but if we turned the channel, he would say, I'm watching that... lol... I should get some fall decorations out, now that we may be passed our 100temps... :)
