ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JUNE 1st, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's WEDNESDAY!
DARE DAY
Dare Day is a day to challenge someone, and to do a dare yourself. It's a day that daredevils truely relish. Today is definitely a call to action. It is not a day for procrastinators or for hesitation.
Dares take all forms and shapes. The type of dare is almost limitless. Whether it is a prank, a challenge to accomplish something, or a personal action (like asking someone out on a date), this is the day to make the dare. And, its the day to do the dare. We do suggest that dares be safe, and of course, legal.......
Daring to the max: To dare someone to do something risky or challenging is one thing. Declaring the double dog dare heightens the challenge. The highest degree of challenge is to triple dog dare someone. It should not be used lightly, or frequently.
The most important DARE: We believe the most important dare is the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program.

JUNE IS ICED TEA MONTH
This summertime-favorite can be made from a variety of tea leaves including black tea, green tea, and even white tea. It can be sweetened, or not, and can be flavored. Sweet tea is most common on the Southern U.S. whereas the rest of the U.S. typically serves unsweetened as the norm. The most common flavor addition is lemon.
One version of iced tea that became popular in the U.S. is SUN tea. Tea bags are placed in a large glass jar with water and left to sit in the sun all day. The heat of the sun brews the tea at a slower rate than using heated water
Another idea that I like is to add fruit juice to your tea.
Cranberry Twister Iced Tea
Makes 2 servings
Irish breakfast tea
1/4 cup boiling water
Cold water
1 cup prepared cranberry, raspberry, strawberry juice
1 shot raspberry syrup, optional
ice cubes
Place one tea bag of Irish breakfast tea into an 8 oz. cup. Pour approximately 2 oz., 1/4 cup, boiling water into cup and steep for 4 to 6 minutes.
Remove tea bag and fill cup to top with cold water. Mix with juice, raspberry syrup, and ice.
I like to make a pitcher full at a time so I adjust the amounts accordingly
It's June, so CELEBRATE National Iced Tea Month!
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
I pray that the life of this spring and summer may ever lie fair in my memory.
Henry David Thoreau
We've had some unbelievable warm days here. I'm still trying to adjust to being so warm and by the time I do, they say it will cool down a bit. Still mid 70's to low 80's weather is what I consider to be perfect so I won't complain about that at all.
The rose bush is full of buds right now. Soon it will be loaded with roses and bloom all summer too. The Irises and the Azaleas are blooming and soon we'll have the Rose of Sharon bushes and sweet peas blooming too. The humming birds have been visiting my next-door sister's feeders and there is a nesting mama wren in the bird house.
Beautiful weather and beautiful sights abound around here at my house. It's a wonderful season to be alive!
COUNTING THE DAYS
Regardless of how little you have, you can always give comfort and encouragement
Today is also Say Something Nice Day. Thank someone, encourage someone, compliment everyone!
21 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER!
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma
