ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
JUNE 2nd, 2011
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side
It's THURSDAY!
NATIONAL BUBBA DAY!
National Bubba Day honors anyone named or called Bubba. To qualify to be honored today, your name can be formally, or informally Bubba. You can even take on the name Bubba for just the day. That way everyone can celebrate this day.
There's a lot of ways to celebrate National Bubba Day. Acting like a Bubba is your starting point. Cards, parties and other celebrations are definitely in order. Gift giving is optional.
As we do have a Bubba in our family I'll be celebrating today!
Have a great day Bub!
NEW IN THE KITCHEN
NATIONAL ROCKY ROAD DAY
Rocky road traditionally consists of chocolate, marshmallow and nuts. Most popular is rocky road ice cream, but you can find everything from rocky road candy to rocky road brownies to rocky road cookies sporting those flavors.
Want to make your own Rocky Road Ice Cream? Just add nuts (almonds and/or pecans), mini marshmallows, and chunks of semisweet chocolate to your favorite ice cream. Today would be the perfect day to make, and certainly eat, a batch of Rocky Road ice cream.
OR you can try this recipe for Rocky Road Squares
This candy is quick and easy to make. The only problem with this candy, is resisting the temptation to eat too many of them
11 1/2 ounces milk chocolate morsels
4 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
In a saucepan, slowly melt chocolate on low heat. Stir constantly to avoid scorching and burning the chocolate. Remove from heat and beat until smooth.
Stir in marshmallows and walnuts. Spread mixture out in a buttered pan. Chill to harden. Remove from refrigerator and cut into squares.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Please pray for God's protection of
our troops and HIS wisdom for their
commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in
your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need. I ask this in the
name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters
and Paramedics and EMT's
GOD BLESS YOU!
AROUND HOME
Spring being a tough act to follow, God created June.
Al Bernstein
June is the month with the longest daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It is one of only four months with a length of 30 days. Every month is represented by a flower and the rose has been given the month of June to represent love, passion and beauty. June ends on the same day of the week as March each year which this year is Thursday.
The weather man says that from now until July 4th we will be experiencing a natural phenomena...It is and will be daylight every morning at 6:00 am until July 4th. That is great news for those that have to be out and about so early in the day. While these little bits and pieces might not make headlines, they all add up to a significant month ahead
We ask God's many blessings on each of us. We pray that we will make the most of this month. We pray that the energy and vibrancy of summer will touch, refresh and energise each of us too. Amen
COUNTING THE DAYS
Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family.

20 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER!
Keep looking ON THE BRIGHT SIDE of things.
A little smile, a word of cheer,
A bit of love from someone near…
Love,
ma

Happy Bubba's day Ma! YOu reminded me of when my boys were growing up and when they got into trouble we used to tell them they were going to end up in a place with nobody but a big guy named Bubba to talk to! (all in jest!) You always have interesting posts to read and I do so enjoy them very much. xxoo
