It's TUESDAY!

This was a momentous day in 1969 because TV pictures showed two people walking on the moon for the first time.

Neil Armstrong’s words to the Command Centre back in

Houston, Texas, were heard by millions: Houston. This is Tranquility Base.

The Eagle has landed!

The Apollo Space program, begun by President John F. Kennedy, was created to put the first man on the moon. Apollo 11 fulfilled that dream, carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin Aldrin, Jr. What an amazing and historic event it was!

THINKING

God knows our needs even before we ask and he gives generously to those who trust in him.

Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what

you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith?

NEW IN THE KITCHEN

Homemade MOON Pies

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 cup white sugar

1 egg

1 cup evaporated milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 cup confectioners' sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup marshmallow creme

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a cookie sheet.

To Make Cookie Crusts: In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter or margarine and white sugar. Add egg, evaporated milk, and vanilla. Mix well. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder. Add flour mixture slowly to sugar mixture while stirring. Mix just until all ingredients are combined.

Drop the dough onto greased cookie sheet by rounded tablespoonfuls. Leave at least 3 inches in between each one; dough will spread as it bakes.

Bake in preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes, until firm

when pressed with finger. Allow to cool at least one hour before filling.

To Make Marshmallow Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, blend together 1/2 cup butter or margarine, confectioners' sugar, flavored extract, and marshmallow creme. Mix until smooth. Assemble pies by spreading 1 to 2 tablespoonfuls of filling on flat side of a cookie crust, then covering filling with flat side of another cookie crust.

Lord, our God and King, your greatness is seen throughout the earth.

When I gaze at the heavens which your fingers have formed, and look at the moon and the stars which you have set there,

I realise how small we are in the majesty of your creation.

Yet you treasure us above all that you have made, and you give us control over all the works of your hand - animals both wild and tame, birds in the air,

and the creatures of the sea.

Lord, our God and King, your greatness is seen throughout the earth

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in

your loving hands

.

Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families for the

selfless acts they perform for us

in our time of need. I ask this in the

name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
