ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JULY 22nd, 2010

It's THURSDAY!

AND IT IS HAMMOCK DAY

Summer is in full swing. It's time to slow down and to relax. During the Dog Days of summer, there is no better place to slow down and relax, than on a hammock.

Today enjoy summer as it should be enjoyed. People celebrate Hammock Day by spending as much time relaxing on it as possible. Getting out of your hammock to get a snack, or your favorite summer beverage is okay. But, it is not a day for work. Cutting the lawn is forbidden on this day.

I don't have a hammock but I do enjoy taking it easy when it's hot. The lawn really doesn't need mowing so much with the hot weather anyway. The news says we've had a record hot summer here and up to a couple of weeks ago we had had a lot of rain too. Now things are getting pretty dry here.

THINKING

You are irreplaceable. You are one of a kind. Before he even created you, God had a purpose for your life that is different from his purpose for anyone else’s life.

Remember that God created you for a reason. He has called you to do things that only you can accomplish!

PRAYERS

God our Father, open our eyes that we may have a sense of wonder and awe that leads us to treasure all that you have made. Show us how to value all who are a part of our lives this day.

Please pray for God's protection of

our troops and HIS wisdom for their

commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in

your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families for the

selfless acts they perform for us

in our time of need. I ask this

in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

AND bless our Police Officers, Firefighters

and Paramedics and EMT's

AROUND HOME

One good thing about yesterday is that I didn't need to go in for an oil change for the car. I looked at the odometer when going out for groceries and found that I'd read it wrong. I still have 3,000 miles to go before it's time. So I called the service center and they said it'd be no problem to cancel my appointment. I'm glad I found my mistake before I got there.

Did you know that July is the month for the most lightning strikes in Ohio? And did you know our average temp for this month is 82? This year we have had a lot lightning and thunder but very few days in the low 80's. Mostly upper 80's bordering on low 90's.

This coming Sunday is the Full Thunder Moon. I guess we can guess why it's called that for sure. I happened to see the half moon in the sky one evening while I was sitting out on the patio. It was pretty big so I'm thinking this full moon will be a beautiful one.

In case you're worried about what's going to become of the younger generation, it's going to grow up and start worrying about the younger generation.

It is true...each generation thinks that the new one is worse than their own. Sometimes I think it is because of the changes that occur that make it hard for us older ones to understand. There really is little that is new though, if you look back throughout history each generation had its problems too. Many of them were still the same as the ones we have today.
